We visited Taco and Tequila last night on occasion of a small birthday celebration. The disaster started as soon as we went to the front desk lady! One of my friends showed up right after a workout and was not dressed for a “cocktail evening”. A girl with reddish hair was staring at her up and down straight and making faces. This didn’t just happen once, it was continuous when we walked in and when we left the place. If I have to give points for hospitality, that lady took all of them away because of her judgemental and demeaning way of looking at her guests.
Let’s talk about food. We started with guac and chips, a classic at any Mexican restaurant and reallly hard to go wrong with it because it’s so supremely basic. However, I was proven wrong. It felt like they had drenched all the lime juice they had in that one bowl of guac. When I called the server and told him that it’s not good and he can take it away, he offered me a replacement. We accepted it just to find out that the chef put a ton of chopped onion in it to reduce the flavour of the lime. Obviously, it didn’t work, but it did help us understand that the rest of the food we had already ordered was going to be a disaster. And so it was!
My friends ordered a shrimp starter, which was average in their opinion. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the chef special cauliflower taco, hence I will only review that. There was no spice whatsoever, not even a hint of jalapeño. All it was a tortilla , topped with sour cream, topped with plain flavourless fried cauliflower, which just had salt, And a stem of cilantro on the top. It was the most bland and disgusting taco I have had in my entire life.
The staff was sweet enough to remove the guac from the bill, which we appreciated.
Turns out the effect of their food stayed long after we left the restaurant as all of us and stomach anches until the next day.
Had a pathetic birthday...
Read moreAs much as the ambience attracted us to T&T, the food completely turned us off…the spice levels were enough to take us soaring to the sky…the sad part is despite requesting the service staff to reduce spice levels, they just did not follow up in instructions and got us a meal that we could barely consume. We are fans of the Mexican cuisine but T&T has ensured that we keep way from Mexican food for quite some time. Please ensure that you work on your food which is the most essential crowd puller for any restaurant. Great ambience and loud music will do you no good…have to add that your staff was equally reckless in handling their client. We requested your manager to reduce the level of music that was by normal standards, alarmingly loud but he refused saying they have to maintain that level, maybe to turn people off from being at your restaurant. The lady taking the order was also lost, she reconfirmed the order at least 6 times and did absolutely nothing about it…the spice levels were beyond what you can ever imagine at a Mexican restaurant, with no justification whatsoever for the spice that was used…hope you guys take...

The restaurant overall was not heavily packed to its capacity and as we were looking for a quiet outing as well, unlike others who wanted to have live band music close to them it was comfortable for our version of night out . Place was clean and comfortable.
Hats off to the chef for an amazing cheesy paneer starters where the chicken starters also were equally good and the platter that we ordered with multiple items was an ideal bite with our drinks. However, pasta served were extremely salty and also the Dal khichdi tasted more like quick and dirty version of rice and Dal mashed into a dish. We left half of the pasta untouched cause of the extra extra salt where pastas are supposed to be really lightly seasoned and the only main course for other colleagues, dal khichdi they jut gulped it. We share a concern, but it is what it is- in short, nothing changed
Nothing from my side that they can work on, but yes, consistency is the key so keep on doing what they are doing very good and work on the food aspect,...
