Rude Management, Unwelcoming experience. Walked home hungry.
My boyfriend and I visited Chai Cafe at 1 AM, hoping to enjoy some late-night Pasta. The place is open until 4 AM, so we thought it would be perfect to relax, play Monopoly, and enjoy some food. As it was cold during our ride there, we started by ordering hot chocolate and tea. I also mentioned to the staff that we planned to order pasta later, but I wanted to finish my drink first. Hot chocolate, being thick and sweet, isn’t something you can finish quickly, and we were taking our time. But after barely 30-35 minutes of sitting while we were still drinking and playing, the manager approached us rudely and insisted we order something else. I politely asked for 5 more minutes, as we were still finishing our drinks. In response to that he insisted again that we either order immediately or leave indirectly.
I felt confused, but, as I intended to, asked for pasta on the spot and immediately after, to clarify his intentions, directly asked, “Are you asking us to leave?” He ignored my pasta order entirely and responded with a curt “Please leave.” Then owner then joined in, claiming “Playing cards is not allowed,” even though no such rule mentioned anywhere. If it’s a rule, it should have be clearly displayed or communicated upfront- not sprung on mid-visit as an excuse to make you leave.
This felt even more insulting, as we were polite, paying customers who had already ordered and were planning to order more. Plus, we’d only been sitting there for 30 minutes.
At that point, feeling deeply disrespected, we decided to leave immediately.
The sad part is that I specifically came for some pasta and I had to walk home still hungry and upset.
The lack of hospitality and basic courtesy at this cafe was shocking. Rather than valuing paying customers, the management is focused solely on churning tables and making money, not about treating customers well.
I’ve since read reviews about others being treated similarly, and it’s clear this is a pattern.
It’s disheartening that such behavior stems from their overconfidence in having a steady flow of customers due to their late-night hours.
If you’re looking for a customer-friendly and welcoming place, Chai Cafe is NOT it. They need to rethink their dismissive and disrespectful attitude toward customers or it’s only a matter of time before their reputation and business take a serious hit. This was a highly...
Read moreThis place has had been a regular Friday post work night therapy. But, today, it DISAPPOINTED to an extent that I will never ever come back again to this place which doesn't value it's regular customer.
Every Friday, when I come here with my friend on Friday nights, we do order food of around 1.5k to 2k while having good conversation and spend night there. However, today, the staff behavior was pathetic and the manager has the same arrogant attitude which clearly states that they don't care for their regular customers. Just after finishing up chai, coffee and pasta (in only 1.5 hours), the staff person came back and asked to order more and we told them that give us some time we will decide and will get back to you but, they stood there on our head with flashlight of their phone on to make us order at that very moment and when we asked them to wait for while since we need time to decide...they were like "Please order right now as our manager asks us these questions and doesn't let people sit without ordering anything" (we were shooked as we just finished up having food and they couldn't even let us breathe. On approaching the manager, we expected them to be a bit polite but, they directly said "No, you have to order and then you can sit". If the cafe would've been overcrowded (which wasn't the case as a lot of seats were empty), we could have understand that. But, that response, wasn't a good approach to treat your regular customers like that. Definitely not coming back here again.
Note to management - You guys can do better by not making your customer feel ...
Read moreOver the past few weeks it has become our favourite place to go late at night. Me and my friend used to go there every weekend and stay there the whole night.
We mostly order something every hour. And stay there for the whole night. But over the last few visits we saw the staff nudging us to order more as soon as we are done. Also keep in mind that it's not like there are other people waiting or anything. In fact quite a few tables were empty.
And today they told us that we have to leave immediately if we don't order more. We had just had pasta and had tea/coffee, and wanted to wait for a while before ordering again. But they are like it's not allowed. We argued, we wanna be there the whole night, we will order again in a while. But they didn't listen. Also at least 3-4 tables were empty (i looked around and checked).
So I ordered another iced tea. Once i finished it, the waiter came to pick it up immediately and we felt like we were unwelcomed to stay any longer.
This has been a big turn off for us. You are supposed to be able to sit and chat in a cafe without being asked to leave as soon as you are done eating (of course given that there aren't any people waiting for your table.)
We are never visiting the cafe again. if you are looking for a place for late night hang outs, don't go there.
I am highly...
