My husband found this restaurant and as a coeliac with a gluten intolerance, I was excited to try the menu. We visited at lunch time and asked about the GF pizza however I was told the wait would be 40 minutes. As we were under time constraints with sight seeing, I got a gluten free pad Thai which was really nice and told the staff I’d be back this evening and asked them if it could be sooner.
We arrived back in the evening and as we were waiting for a table, I put in my order for a gluten free paneer pizza to which the waiter said, “peri peri paneer?” And I said yes.
We sat upstairs and after about 20-25 minutes an Italian pizza arrived. I told the waiter that I ordered a paneer pizza and he stated that I didn’t. (Note there is slight language barrier with this waiter) I again state I definitely ordered the paneer pizza and he again stated I ordered the Italian. I was getting a bit frustrated at this point but another waiter offered to get it changed and said it would be 10 minutes.
What arrived 10 minutes later was the same pizza (with the black olives, onions and mushrooms) with some grilled paneer on top. At this point I did not fight it however I made my thoughts clear to the waiter when paying (I still paid the full amount).
I also asked for a takeaway box and was initially given curry box however asked for silver foil and eventually got a pizza box (also the grease marks implied it had already been used)
I’m not one to write bad review however 1) being told I’M the one who ordered wrong when I would ever order the Italian pizza as I HATE black olives and 2) receiving the SAME pizza that is obviously wrong just ‘jazzed’ up was not the customer service anyone should receive.
Also note the table next to me couldn’t get a vegan pizza as it apparently wasn’t available either.
Restaurants should refrain from advertising dietary requirements they obviously cannot commit to as it not only disappoints those who are limited but it will inevitably give...
Read moreOur recent visit to Millets of Mewar Restaurant in Udaipur was a delightful experience from start to finish. Located near the City Palace, this restaurant offers not only a convenient location but also exceptional service and delicious food.
We started our meal with some refreshing drinks, which were served promptly and were a perfect complement to the warm ambiance of the restaurant. The highlight of our dining experience was the Dal Bhati Thali, which was recommended to us. It was a true delight! The flavors were rich and authentic, and each component of the thali was meticulously prepared. The dal was flavorful, the bhati was perfectly cooked, and the accompanying sides added a wonderful variety to the meal. It was evident that the chefs at Millets of Mewar take pride in presenting their unique and tasty dishes.
Beyond the food, the restaurant itself exudes a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring that our dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable. The proximity to the City Palace also added to the charm, providing a picturesque backdrop to our meal.
In conclusion, Millets of Mewar Restaurant exceeded our expectations with its delicious food, excellent service, and pleasant ambiance. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Udaipur, I highly recommend stopping by Millets of Mewar for a taste of authentic Mewari cuisine and a memorable...

Good place to stop for lunch or dinner immediately after the city palace or jagdish mandir tour. The seating is comfy with enough charging points, they have an ac Hall as well for people looking to recover from the mornings sightseeing. They also have a clean washroom that's usable.
The food is nice. They recommend their veg Millet biriyani which is made from puffed jowar - it was nice and well flavoured. Lassi was so so, I didn't like the cardamom taste so much. But the rest of the food we ordered was really nice.
The Eggplant curry was a big surprise and really good, the paneer butter was nice and we finished off with a nutella banana pancake which was delicious and surprise - made with millets! Roti and naan were both nice.
They have a mix of healthy food made with millets as well as the regular fare.
Having visited the place after more than 8 years, it's a pleasure to be back here. Wonderful staff and wonderful service. Thanks Manoj! 😊
The only downside to the place is the steep stairs that we have to climb, and the strong smell of urine in the...
