My husband found this restaurant and as a coeliac with a gluten intolerance, I was excited to try the menu. We visited at lunch time and asked about the GF pizza however I was told the wait would be 40 minutes. As we were under time constraints with sight seeing, I got a gluten free pad Thai which was really nice and told the staff I’d be back this evening and asked them if it could be sooner.
We arrived back in the evening and as we were waiting for a table, I put in my order for a gluten free paneer pizza to which the waiter said, “peri peri paneer?” And I said yes.
We sat upstairs and after about 20-25 minutes an Italian pizza arrived. I told the waiter that I ordered a paneer pizza and he stated that I didn’t. (Note there is slight language barrier with this waiter) I again state I definitely ordered the paneer pizza and he again stated I ordered the Italian. I was getting a bit frustrated at this point but another waiter offered to get it changed and said it would be 10 minutes.
What arrived 10 minutes later was the same pizza (with the black olives, onions and mushrooms) with some grilled paneer on top. At this point I did not fight it however I made my thoughts clear to the waiter when paying (I still paid the full amount).
I also asked for a takeaway box and was initially given curry box however asked for silver foil and eventually got a pizza box (also the grease marks implied it had already been used)
I’m not one to write bad review however 1) being told I’M the one who ordered wrong when I would ever order the Italian pizza as I HATE black olives and 2) receiving the SAME pizza that is obviously wrong just ‘jazzed’ up was not the customer service anyone should receive.
Also note the table next to me couldn’t get a vegan pizza as it apparently wasn’t available either.
Restaurants should refrain from advertising dietary requirements they obviously cannot commit to as it not only disappoints those who are limited but it will inevitably give...
Read moreMillets Of Mewar had been on my go to list for quite a while, mainly for its unique concept and the fact that it came under the top 10 Indian restaurants serving healthy food. Further, they also had plenty of vegan options which also made it a reason for our group to check out this interesting place.
So last month, one afternoon, we made a plan to go to Millets Of Mewar for lunch. Coincidently, a few in the group had already dined there the previous night and given us rave reviews and so we couldn't just wait to try the stuff here.
The place was reasonably empty when we reached there but within half an hour or so, almost all tables were occupied. We were told in advance that everything would be prepared fresh and hence service would be slow. As we were kind of prepared for this it didn't affect us much but for those looking to have a real quick meal here, it may be disappointing.
On their recommendations to suit our groups taste and vegan requirement, we ordered for: Millet Khichdi - the best of all. Warm, filled with vegetables and healthy. Could have it again. Millet wraps - Good Millet tikki - these were excellent. The tikkis were super soft and topped with amaranth grains. These kind of tasted like ragda patties. Vegan pizza - This one was good too. Well baked, good crust, lots of vegatables and nice vegan white sauce to replace the Regular cheese. Summer cooler - Not Bad. Pancakes with Vegan Nutella - In contrast to the extra sweet chocolatey Nutella, this version of Nutella was made in house and beautifully spread on the soft warm pancakes. Delicious! (P. S. This was the only option in desserts for vegans)
All in all, a pretty place with some very interesting food. Service could have been a little more warm and welcoming and of course, a little faster. Visiting this place is a little off the track for tourists (unless visiting the Sajjangarh Palace) but it's worth the travel and time if you are looking for something new to...
Read moreWe were excited about Millets of Mewar during our visit to Udaipur; however the visit was a letdown.
We dined at the rooftop, the views weren’t remarkable, and on a hot day, it can indeed get uncomfortable. The food that we got:
Wholesome Millet Veg Tikki—it had just the right amount of kick to it, with the spicy patty of millets and the right amount of garnish to start our meal, definitely recommended(5/5)
Millet Khichadi—Khichadi was eh. It was bland, and unless you need a convalescent meal(in case you’re sick), you can skip it. Not recommended(1/5)
Dal bati Churma Thali—An average Dal Bati Churma Thali, the bati got bland pretty quickly after a few bites. Dal was average. If you haven’t tried dal bati in Rajasthan, then this might be your introduction to it. If you’re looking for out of this world dal bati, then I don’t recommend it. (3/5)
Chai was your usual chai(3/5).
They didn’t have quite a few items(such as superfusion bhel and others) on the day we visited. It was surprising that a serious restaurant didn’t have their signature items available.
The service was mediocre despite being prompt. The waiters couldn’t be bothered, and they seriously need some customer service training.
Millets have gained a lot of traction in the recent years for their health benefits. And for a restaurant that presumably started with the right intentions, customer service is key. Millets of Mewar sadly seems going downhill, and needs saving.
The restroom was on the rooftop, and was somewhat clean. They’ve seating on the rooftop as well as on the...
