I recently visited Traditional Khana, a Rajasthani cuisine restaurant, and my experience was not particularly impressive.
The ambience felt rather dull, with very little effort put into creating a warm or royal dining atmosphere. Food was served on leaf plates and bowls, which, while different didn’t quite justify the “traditional” theme for the price point. At ₹800 per person, I expected something more refined perhaps a setup inspired by royal Rajasthani courts, like silver or at least well-designed plates and cutlery, rather than basic leaves.
The food itself was extremely heavy, dominated by dishes made mostly from besan (gram flour) and pulses. While it might be considered authentic, it felt more like a deep dive into old grains and flours than a balanced Rajasthani thali. The flavors didn’t stand out for me most items tasted too similar. The khichdi was confusing, almost like a sweet kheer with jaggery, sugar, and ghee, which I personally didn’t enjoy.
Although the restaurant advertises an “unlimited” thali, the servers were reluctant to give second servings of dishes you liked, as they were more focused on serving the fixed rotation of multiple other items. This left me feeling restricted rather than satisfied.
Overall, I found the meal overpriced for the quality and taste. It might appeal to those looking for a very traditional, flour-heavy Rajasthani spread, but for me, the experience didn’t match the hype. Personally, I would not recommend it, though some might appreciate the unique flavours...

Overall experience ( food, taste, ambience, service) was average, not extra ordinary Thali cost 840 per person , i feel not worth. Actual worth is upto 500 max. Its unlimited however owner seems money minded purely, the staff will come and tell u how to eat, what to eat, how much each item to eat (accordingly he serves all items stepwise) so basically he will not let u leave any room in stomach for anything u may want to eat later. Obviously owner would have trained him like that. Ideally he should serve all items and let people eat as per their choice and take more or less basis their taste preferences. How to eat, he can tell thats ok. The food is super oily, they put too much ghee/oil in everything. Items are also less ( welcome drink gulab sarbat, urad dal, chana dal, kadi, dry sabji, besan poori, pulav, bazra khichdi, papad, moong dal halwa, moong dal pakoda, baati, chatni, chaas) thats all. They didnt serve chulle ki rabdi. One thing i did not like definitely and will highlight. After serving all the menu, the supervisor was just waiting us to leave, didnt even ask if we want anything else. At last after 15-20 minutes we were sitting idle then he came to ask, coz he wanted us to leave. Ovbsly owner would have trained him like that. Not putting any blame on staff.Staff was good and humble but they have to do wat owner tells them. You can explore if money is not a constraint, the experience would be average. Dont expect anything...

Traditional Khana Restaurant in Udaipur offers a unique and authentic Rajasthani dining experience, featuring a variety of traditional dishes that highlight the regional flavors. The ambiance is simple yet homely, focusing on offering an experience that connects diners to the roots of Rajasthan's rich culinary heritage.
The food was decent but not extraordinary. Dishes like Gatte Ki Sabzi, Chakki Ki Sakh, Chana Dal, Toor Dal, and Kadi were flavorful, though the Baati was a bit unusual and not like the traditional ones I've encountered elsewhere. The Bati, typically soft and round, had a slightly different texture and taste, which might not appeal to everyone. The Moong Dal Pakoda and Besan Halwa were tasty, but again, nothing to rave about.
The Churma Ka Laddoo was a highlight—delicious and authentic, it captured the essence of Rajasthani desserts perfectly. The Gulabjal Ka Sharbat, however, was overly sweet for my liking, and the Chaas served in a kulhad was refreshing and a nice touch. The experience of eating with hands adds an authentic feel to the meal, as you're encouraged to embrace the traditional way of dining.
While the food was passable, for the quality and taste, it was a bit on the expensive side. It's a good place if you're looking to try Rajasthani cuisine in an authentic setting, but don’t expect a highly refined dining experience. The ambiance and traditional eating style are the real...
