This is the first fresh organic Indian food, I've had in India, so far, and is decidedly my favorite restaurant in not only, Udaipur, but India.
Each recipe has it's own flair and is made to perfection. The prices are extremely reasonable. In fact, given the quality of the food, I expected to pay luxury restaurant prices, but this is not the case. EVERYTHING is delicious and affordable.
So far, I've tried the laal maas, chicken briyani, dal makhani, paneer markhawal, and the fish moilee (WOW!!). Every dish was fresh. After some investigation I discovered that the recipes served in this restaurant have also been served to the royal family of Udaipur -- BY REQUEST.
One last thing, White Terrace is as clean and to code as any great western restaurant, and if you've travelled in India as long as I have, you will find this is usually not the case. Most restaurants serve month old food stored in the freezer. I've had the Delhi-belly to prove it. Give your tummy a rest here with excellent same day...
Read moreWhen I arrived at Udaipur, I met a very nice boy named Maia. He helped me without asking for anything in return - something rare in travel - only with the genuine will to know and share. He recommended this restaurant to me, saying, "You have to go, it is my friends'." At first I thought I'd just take a look, but fortunately I decided to come in.
What a wonderful surprise. Upon arrival I felt a special calm: a Zen, serene environment, full of sincere smiles and true hospitality. Nothing forced, nothing with ulterior motives - only people happy to receive and make us feel good.
The view is simply fantastic, of those that make us stop in time, and the food... unbelievable. Each dish came with an authentic and intense flavor. I, who usually can't take the spicy very well, ended up tasting everything without problems, because the experience as a whole made me happy to be there.
It is one of those places where one goes not only to eat, but to live for a moment. I recommend it from...

The ambience of the restaurant is quite nice but that’s where it ends. We waited for a table on the roof in the downstairs part of the restaurant where there was another table eating. The vehicle fumes coming up and in from the street below made me feel nauseous after just 5 minutes, this didn’t really improve on the rooftop due to still being relatively low down and enclosed by surrounding buildings.
As for food, it was reasonably priced. We decided to try the Laal Maas as I had struggled to find anything spicy during my trip to India and this had been advised as a spicy Rajasthani dish.
What we received was a bowl full of gravy (sauce) and I think 2 maybe 3 bite size pieces of poor quality meat each. Along with a large bone which whilst I’m sure added flavour had nothing but cartilage and gristle on it. It wasn’t spicy either, the waiter after told me they don’t make it spicy as westerners complain. FML.
I left feeling hungry and...
