My first meal at Asvah was during a Diwali party organized almost two years ago. Mohan was very helpful, and the kitchen team did a fabulous job. Instead of simply suggesting dishes from the menu, they took the time to understand our needs. Since we wanted a private space, we were offered the area next to the pool, which is one of the most tastefully decorated spots in the city. The ambiance gave off serious Geoffrey Bawa vibes.
Recently, Asvah launched a new Indian-inspired menu, which intrigued me. We started with stuffed mushrooms with water chestnuts, cauliflower fritters with a cauliflower puree (silky glossy would be an understatement), and rava prawns (fresh, perfectly cooked, and well-spiced), complemented beautifully by a guava dip. Their take on mutton seekh (in skewers) was impressive; it is hard to find good quality mutton in the city, and theirs was perfectly succulent and juicy.
For the main courses, we tried the egg tornado/kalakki on chicken curry, a great interpretation of comforting kalakki. The showstopper was the fish, perfectly cooked barramundi with a delicious fish kozhambu. Crispy-skinned fish in a South Indian gravy, was unexpected but delicious. In a fish kozhambhu, the pieces are always immersed in the gravy completely and most of the times the pieces are overcooked leaving them chewy. The Gongura mutton, topped with mutton fried with coated egg like mutton egg fritters from Chettinad homes, was another pleasant surprise. Perfected paired with the Chicken Pulao. The use of blue cheese in a kulcha paired with raisins and nuts was extraordinary, and I enjoyed the bread on its own. A perfect balance of flavours and nothing was overpowering.
We ended our meal with desserts, choosing from over 13 flavors of ice creams and sorbets, including a few alcoholic options. The coconut banana jaggery and Cheeni malai toast were to die for. Dining as a large group allowed us to sample an insane...

Read moreThe first question that popped after entering the place was 'Why didn't I know about this place earlier? Even after exhaustive searching, we usually end up in a regular place, but this one was different. Candle light set up at the roof top, breath taking view at the ground floor. Food also tasted decent. List of items we ordered Cod & Mushroom Butter chicken escalopes Chicken penne pasta Pumpkin & vanilla soup Pollo It is hard to recollect the name of the item and the food that came, so there is no detailing just posting the pictures along with this. I recommend visiting this place once if not for the food, then at least for the ambience. The standout was the impeccable service, especially assistance in planning my itinerary. His professionalism and warmth made my dining memorable. The culinary experience was delightful, offering a range of delectable dishes. Overall, it was a magical experience that exceeded expectations. Very good ambience, good service, good food but there were not much option just 3 or 4 dishes to pick from they said that they are bringing new menu in coming weeks, hope they bring that soon. Still felt it expensive 700 something for a small sandwich? But it was heaven in every bite, no complaints, but once in a while for a candlelight dinner with a loved one, it's good. The evening was pleasant and breezy, so we relaxed on the terrace. The cuisine was outstanding. We choose the veg sandwich, mozzarella in carrozza, mushroom bruschetta, and Italian bruschetta. Food that was truly Italian tasted too wonderful. Towards the conclusion of dinner, it began to rain, so we retreated downstairs. Excellent atmosphere, and I loved how the rain looked on the...
