We are a customer of Grand sweets right from their early period of starting at Adyar. All our requirements of sweets and savouries including paruppu thengai n wedding murukku, used to be ordered here.
Today (16/04/19) went to order some sweets and condiments. My wife suggested that we should have breakfast there.
We found the restaurant decently crowded but, AC was not working.
We ordered for a mini tiffin and I ate up all the salty items and at last touched the sweet kesari.
It had a plastic fried up in it and I did take it out and kept separately. Thought could be a one off situation. Then, came the rude shock and a much bigger size of plastic fried in ghee.
When I complained for 20 mts no one to answer and the other customers were amazed as from children to old people were all there.
The GM (Manikandan) feels sorry as this was the first time such a thing happened. Will he allow this to happen to his family at any restaurant.
Over the years, GSS have grown and we are happy about it but, the restaurant is becoming a joke with the type of care and food they serve.
This is a very serious subject as they were trying to please me about not to pay the ₹100/- bill. Absolutely, ridiculous. Worst, the guy brings in ₹50/- against ₹100/-.
This shows their commitment levels by paying money we can get away. We should all raise our voice at every mistake to get the right quality.

Read moreThe quality of this restaurant has really gone down terribly. there was no food item which was mentioned in the menu. No mini tiffin no dosa. We ordered puli kachal and chapati and coffee. Pulichachi is even worse than what you would find in a hand round cart. Chapati was just ok. this restaurant which was once famous for coffee, the coffee is the bottom. It smells like bru and it tasted very watery. I mentioned this to the manager and he said that we can give another coffee sir. Second coffee was as bad as the first it was watery it did not even smell like coffee and the taste of just terrible. Do not ever visit this place if you value your taste buds. GSS has sold its soul by giving it to such bar franchisees would do not even have an idea of what good taste is about. GSS is good at orginal adyar, near that sastri nagar or mylapore. Do not ever visit Mandaveli for food,...
Read moreI feel quality is slightly taking back seat in GSS with central kitchen!!! Till the time it was under one roof and adyar it had the quality.. now I started to doubt if the money is worth spending here... Good deed though is the restart of servings of food variety that reflects...
