I recently dined at Hotel Ananda, and I must say, it continues to be one of the finest and oldest vegetarian restaurants in Teynampet. The hotel's proximity to my office has made it a convenient and delightful dining choice. I find myself visiting here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they never fail to impress.
Hotel Ananda offers a delectable range of South Indian dishes. For breakfast, their Idli and Dosa items are a must-try, and I've enjoyed these classics on numerous occasions. Lunchtime is a treat with a variety of rice dishes and other tiffin items. Dinner is a satisfying experience with a typical South Indian menu featuring delicious masala dishes. One standout feature of this restaurant is the variety of chutneys they serve, which change every hour. This keeps the dining experience interesting and flavorsome.
What I appreciate the most about Hotel Ananda is its consistency. Over the years, the quality of their food has remained unwavering. It's as if time has stood still, and the taste of their Dosas and Idlis takes me back to the same flavors I enjoyed four years ago. This level of continuity and reliability in taste is truly commendable.
After my most recent visit, where I savored their Dosas and Idlis, I can confidently say that the flavors were as exceptional as they were during my first visit. Hotel Ananda continues to be a trusted go-to for delicious South Indian cuisine. It's a place where tradition meets taste, and it never disappoints.

Read moreBang in the middle of the junction connecting Theagaraya Road and Anna Salai, the accessibility is super good, but so is the noise and parking difficulties. Went on a two wheeler so didn't face issues.
Went it for a late lunch and sambar rice and mini meals were still available. Great tasting food and great value for money. The service was good too.
Post car bill payment directly at the counter, I went and tipped the wrong waiter and he politely told me that it was not him who served me but another guy and he called the other guy to come and let me tip him. Wow! Just a couple of weeks back, I had this same mix up in the Sangeetha Veg Restaurant in Vandaloor, and a random waiter simply took the bill and tip, and pocketed it.
Small things like these attach to my memory lane quite strongly, and I very much appreciated his gesture.
COVID aspects: Couldn't find a sanitizer stand, but there was a bottle at the bill desk. Seating was pretty cramped. No doors to the wash areas, so cool, but the taps need to touched. Waiters do wear masks. No temp checks upon entry. Overall COVID...
