We went to Ignna after hearing a lot about the ambience and the food and it was honestly quite underwhelming! Starting off with entry, we were asked “sign up” and part of this process was to submit a copy of my ID! I’m not sure why this was required and if this is a regular process because I’ve never had any other place in Chennai ask for a copy of my ID! It is usually just to check at a glance! When asked, the hostess informed us that it’s mandatory because it’s a club, no idea if that’s actually a rule!
Coming to the seating, Ignna has been positioned as a middle eastern dining “experience”, but what we got was blaring music, disco lights and uncomfortable chairs! When we asked for a cushion for the chair since it was literally like a metal grill, and they said that they don’t provide cushions for high chairs????! When I pointed out that the next table had them they brought some over!
The food was subpar, would only recommend the shish tawook, Mezze platter and the paneer grill starter! The pide was not good - would not recommend!
Overall, I don’t know if it was because I chose the wrong day to visit, or if this was an isolated incident, I don’t think I will be going back!
Edit - from the restaurant’s response, it’s quite clear that even the PR team is untrained! :) If that’s the government regulation as mentioned, it would be wise to train your host to explain to people why their personal information is being demanded rather than a rude response like this! I don’t usually give negative reviews- viewing my other reviews can support this, but this review was obviously necessary! And generally viewing how the owner has responded to other critical reviews, it’s clear that the team is incapable of taking criticism and doing better! Waiting to see how long this place survives! 😃
Further edit: would love to discuss why this is baseless, when I have explained my experience from start to finish! Your response could have been explanatory, but instead it was condescending and rude! And I really don’t appreciate that you have made things personal (the comment about grandchildren)! It’s not okay to say these things as a brand to an individual! I hope anyone reading this takes note!...
Read moreMy visit to Ignna by Midnight Sun was an absolute delight, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the ambiance—it exudes elegance and sophistication while maintaining a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The lighting, décor, and overall vibe of the place set the perfect mood, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening with great food. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or for a special occasion, the setting ensures a memorable experience.
Now, let’s talk about the food, which was the true highlight of the evening. I ordered a variety of starters, including fish, chicken, and paneer, accompanied by some absolutely mind-blowing mocktails. Every dish was prepared with precision, bursting with flavors, and beautifully presented. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, the chicken was juicy and packed with spices, and the paneer had a rich, creamy texture that made every bite enjoyable. The mocktails were equally impressive—creative, refreshing, and a perfect complement to the food. The balance of flavors in every dish was simply remarkable.
The service at Ignna by Midnight Sun was top-notch. The staff was polite, professional, and attentive, ensuring that everything was served promptly. They were knowledgeable about the menu and even offered great recommendations, making the experience even better. It’s always a pleasure to dine at a place where hospitality is given as much importance as the food itself.
When it comes to pricing, I found it to be well worth it. Given the quality of food, the exceptional service, and the stunning ambiance, the price felt completely justified. If you’re looking for a spot that offers an outstanding culinary experience along with a fantastic atmosphere, this is the place to be.
I highly recommend Ignna by Midnight Sun and will definitely be returning soon for another...

The place emits a beautiful minimalistic elegance with its subtle yet exotic decor. It definitely is a lovely place to hang out with a bunch of friends.
The food is mild and flavourful. They are yet to launch their entire menu, so whatever was there tonight was definitely tasty. It wasn’t too extravagant, but it sure wasn’t dull either!
I was genuinely surprised about the pricing. It has been very reasonably priced for the quantity offered . It sure is a place I wouldn’t mind visiting again.
A little few suggestions from our side would be , the pita breads and pizza bases could have been a little softer , I wasn’t a fan of the Tap / RO water offered . And my husband felt there were too many mosquitoes that were being a bit of a disturbance to the otherwise beautiful ambience and food.
I would give a 4.5 rating for the place . I really hope they don’t lose their standards as the first impression they’ve set has been impeccable so far! Good luck team Midnight sun & Ignna, looking forward to your launch !
To the Team’s Response
About the disturbance from nature’s side , we did mention it to the staff, and they did assure on finding a fix for it. Thank you for the mosquito repellent option, will sure ask for it the next time.
About the water, we can only share what our experience felt like about a particular item that was ‘offered’ to us , we sure are happy about the alternatives available or in our case availed.
With no disrespect to the efforts made by the team , and the exceptionally beautiful concept that has been delivered , Our review is simply a reflection of our personal experience and hope you take it in the right spirits .
