Hard Rock Cafe Chennai — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Atlast, Hard Rock Cafe, Chennai in its true avatar (the previous HRC which closed did not serve spirits due to a funny govt policy on alcohol for stand alone restaurants which is strange as it is funny). This true avatar with great food, spirits and true hard rock attitude to its customers in Chennai. They opened their doors on 27th December 2023 and they are truly rocking Chennai. The place and ambience here is rocking. The music was perfect with classic rock setting my mood for Friday afternoon.

The rock memorabilia has some beautiful Guitars of Billy Gibbons, Eric Clapton and some tops worn by Mick Jagger and Slash and Roger Glover . I think HRC is still in the process of adding more as I felt the memorabilias were too less for a restaurant of this size.

The restaurant was decent sized which could easily hold more than 100 customers. I could be wrong too because it had a nice open seating arrangement too which was large and nice but I don't know if the peak summer of Chennai can make it comfortable for open air but from September till February it will be great.

The management is now trying to confirm to the new gen by adding D I Khaled and a few Indian film singers. I truly did not like it because they are all good singers but simply don't belong to the rock scene. If they wanted to add local rock singers, I would have doffed by hat to the management as Chennai had some fantastic rockers and to see their face would have been amazing.

We ordered the Classic Hard Rock Burgers which were outstanding, Fish and chips was excellent, the Jumbo Non Veg Combo was sumptuous, the salads and sliders were fantastic. The food quality was top of the range and I have had food from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur , London and Vienna. Our local HRC Chennai has beaten them all fair and square.

The choice of Wine, Beer, Whisky and Vodkas were pretty good. I felt the Japanese whiskies were priced a little high ( comparable to 5 star bars) . I wanted to try a few single malts but the sky high price made me look for other choices of Craft Beer which was outstanding and pricing was fair.

The service was "spot on". They were really friendly and meets the vibe headon. I did try to quizz a few of senior guys about rock and it was clear that they were learning the ropes. I don't blame them or the management. The food order must improve because my order took nearly 25 minutes to reach the table. May be early afternoon was just setting and the real speed might reach peak performance during the evenings. I asked a senior manager if HRC has space for private parties but he said he will get back to me.

Our server was prompt, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided excellent recommendations. Price While the Hard Rock Café is on the higher end in terms of pricing, the portions are generous, and the quality of both food and entertainment justifies the cost. Very Poor service... I won't recommend to anyone 👎👎👎

I did visit few days back with my friends for a birthday party. Booked the table through Swiggy dineout. Once reached they said they do not get any notification if the booking is made through Swiggy. Not sure why they have listed then? Later upon our request they asked us to seat on a side table which was very small and can accommodate two guests only while we were three. We were not convinced and after multiple requests only they have changed our table post making us wait for 15 mins. We were comfortable and enjoying our party there without any issues. Suddenly in the middle of our party when we were enjoying food and drinks, Mr Tharun came and asked to leave the table immediately and within a min or two we were standing near to the bar counter. This was embarrassing 😳 and totally unacceptable. We have been calling Tharun and other guys but no one was responding. We have shared our frustration with the manager (a guy was in white shirt, you can see in photos) to which he replied that if you want to seat, you will have to wait. Everyone was very rude and they were prioritizing female guets only. We asked the manager to connect us with the owner of the cafe but he denied. He said we are free to write reviews and escalate wherever we want and they don't care. This was pathetic. We told that we will definitely share feedback and do not want anyone from the cafe to call for apologise to which he confirmed that for sure we will not get any call from hotel. After multiple heated argument they have made the arrangements for us to seat again after 30 mins. We have finished our foods/drinks, paid more than 15k and left the place.

They have purposely messed up our party that night with their worst behavior and attitude. I will never ever visited hard rock cafe again and won't recommend to anyone. They have expertise in spoiling the party. Their food quality and ambience are good though but I trust the way they are treating their customers, soon will see it shutting down 👎
