So Yesterday, after a Relaxing Evening at Bessie me and my Family decided to get Dinner. We arrived around 8.20 to find much of the tables occupied (small place that seemed like it was expanding and under renovation) as there was a large group of 14 already having dinner. We were asked to wait 20 minutes which we didn't really mind. Going through the menu and matching what we wanted to eat with the reviews, we finally got a spot. Being a small room bustling with people and hot pipping food, it quickly became hot and a tad stuffy.
We ordered:
Lamb Madison (Sizzler)
It was really good! Not too chewy and not too soft. Mixed with sauce and vinegar'd carrots salad and frites with a side of rice. It was perfect.
Pepper and Salt Squid
Slightly crispy and slightly chew but deliciously mouth watering fried calamari. It's a must have!
Shezwan Fried Rice (egg)
It was good. Though not my favourite, I felt it could be a little more flavourful and seemed to be lacking in spice and zest.
Phad Thai (chicken)
It was great, with crunchy groundnuts and perfectly saucy. The chicken was well cooked and not too tough. We really enjoyed it.
Five Spice Chicken (Gravy)
(Suggestion of the waiter)
This was AMAZING. Chicken in a beautifully made oyster sauce. Not to sweet nor too salty. It was perfect. The chicken was love. It just melted in your mouth and you could definitely taste the chicken. It was brilliant.
On the Whole We Loved The Food! The price was decent too, only Rs. 1050 (family of 4 ) and we were filled to the brim.
On the other hand as I'm a person who loses appetite and I was pretty upset about the air conditioning though it's not entirely their fault.
Rating:
Ambience: 3/5
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Total: 4/5
Verdict: A definite must try! For a Great Thai food at...
Read moreMy first thought was "sketchy" when I first looked this place up with mixed reviews. Some good, some bad, some great, some terrible and I was hella hungry so I just went in. The place initially had no one so they promptly took our orders. I saw reviews of their menu as not having many variety but I would describe it as a rather simplified menu which is easy to choose from. It was just the two of us and we just ordered Pad-thai, momo paltter, spring roll and peach-sodas, expecting nothing more than just to quench our hunger. And boy-o-boy, when it arrived. The quantity was externally generous and the quality of the taste was absolutely amazing. Its been two weeks and the taste still lingers in me. So this place wins in both quality and QUANTITY for me. And now comes for the "ambience", I guess they're a rather bustling cloud kitchen so they don't expect much customer around and are ok with it so they didn't invest much into the seating arrangement. So its nothing fancy, but the place isn't dingy either. It has cushy chairs/seater and a relatively big table so I'm not complaining. I would give their ambiance 4/5 and food 6/5, so if you're looking for cheap Indo-Chinese food with generous quantity, this is the place. We went there twice, so the first time it costed us around 600 and the second time around 900 for two people and both the times we had leftovers and they packed it for us to take...
Read moreOlive & Basil is a small restaurant that serves some decent Asian dishes. Yes, the name baffles me too. While it's easy to locate this spot, parking is quite onerous. There's a small lane adjacent to these block of shops and even then for cars, it does get challenging. So as you go up to the restaurant, the first thing to notice is the size of the place. TINY and quite cramped. This makes it easy on the service part though and you get some prompt waiters always by your side.
The menu is ample and descript with Asian dishes; Chinese and Thai mainly. They also have a few Indian dishes, again, baffled. So we ordered the Thai Chilly Babycorn, Dragon Chicken, and American Chopsuey. Appetizers were YUM! Thai Chily Babycorn is something I'm sure to order any/every time I visit this place. The subtle hint of coconut with the spice mix on the crispy baby corn was just about perfect. Dragon Chicken wasn't as great but filled up our craving. The meat was slightly tough on a few pieces. The main course was bad. We did regret ordering it. The fried noodles were too thick and were kinda stale. The gravy was alright and crunchy peppers in it saved the day. But the noodles kinda ruined the whole experience.
Appetizers are many and are surely what would make me come back here for a...
