Extremely disappointed. I went to the Egmore branch, perhaps the Adyar one is better, but I can vouch for the Egmore one. Most unkempt place I've been to in Chennai.
I booked my table on dineout for buffet. Once we went there, they weren't even sure they HAD buffet. It took them nearly 40 mins to prepare the buffet dishes. We were forced to wait as it was a prepaid buffet on dineout. And when the dishes came, the staff didn't know what the dishes were. They didn't have a menu card for the lunch buffet, only God knows how the chef prepared them without a menu card.
Needless to say, the dishes were terrible, we had to taste them for the sake of it. We just stood up and left in the end. I suppose two restaurants had been clubbed together because other people had come only for the Andhra Meals being served under the "Spice Trail" banner. But "Olive and Basil" was a complete disappointment. Never setting foot in that place again. I would advice others not to do as well, unless you feel like eating some Andhra Meals. Not sure how that tastes like either, so you will be doing so at your own risk.
Dineout is also to blame, as they should properly verify if the said restaurant offers the specific service before selling deals to customers. People are being fooled out of their money due to the carelessness of these apps and in the end when we ask for a refund, they act helpless saying company policy doesn't allow them to refund the money. This is a scam which is happening right under our noses, I had a similar experience with OYO ROOMS in a Bengaluru. We need to do...
Read moreThis place is a combination of two restaurants, got confused while entering whether it is OnB or the other one. The interior was good and service was better. We had a Manchow soup it was a perfect one to have before a meal. Then ordered a stir fried dumplings which was awesome and a must try. In appetizers we tried butter cauliflower it was good and then a sizzler named twisting Tofu an average sizzler. The disappointing one was Phad Thai which was our interested dish to try there, but we couldn't eat more than two spoons. I dont know whether it was the real taste or it will be different it was full of Tamarind sauce. But the one I tried in adyar OnB was good. My best dish I tried in adyar Olive and Basil was the dessert Gluay Baad Chee which is made of Coconut milk, a scoop of ice cream and few slices of banana in it, which tasted average...
Read moreWas there with my family. Located opposite to Alsa Mall and next to Cake Walk in Egmore. Pretty easy to find the spot and has got decent parking space both for cars and bikes. It's a combination of both Chinese and Andra style restaurants in the same place so u can have a taste of both cuisines under a single roof. We mostly ordered Chinese which included soups, starters and the main dish. I very much liked their fried momo and fish varieties. The Mongolian noodles was bit spicy and goes by the reputation. Service was good and the people were friendly and helpful. Like most restaurants in Chennai nowadays, the waiters don't explain the menu items like they used to in earlier days. Overall a...
