I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pandiyan Hotel, located near Velachery Vijaya Nagar Signal, and I must say, it was a culinary journey that left me thoroughly impressed. If you're a connoisseur of Madurai style Parotta, then this place is a hidden gem that you absolutely need to explore.
As soon as I took my first bite of their Parotta, I knew I was in for a treat. The Parotta was simply outstanding, perfectly flaky and layered, just as you'd expect from authentic Madurai cuisine. The texture and taste were spot-on, reminding me of the Parottas I've savored during my visits to Madurai itself. But what truly set Pandiyan Hotel apart was their unique twist on Salna, which accompanied the Parotta. The burst of flavors in their Salna was unlike anything I've tasted before, and it quickly became my personal favorite.
For those who are homesick for the flavors of Madurai in Chennai, this place is a godsend. The nostalgia-inducing taste of their Parotta and Salna is a direct portal to the bustling streets of Madurai. Despite the slightly higher price point of ₹20 per Parotta, compared to the nominal rates in Madurai, the authenticity and quality of the dish make it well worth the investment. It's not just a meal; it's a slice of Madurai's culinary heritage right in the heart of Chennai.
One thing to note is that due to its exceptional reputation, Pandiyan Hotel tends to get crowded during peak hours. While waiting might be unavoidable, trust me when I say that the wait is worth it. The anticipation only adds to the experience, and once you dig into that Parotta and Salna combo, you'll agree that it's a memory well worth the wait.
In conclusion, Pandiyan Hotel in Velachery has captured the essence of Madurai's iconic Parotta and brought it to Chennai with finesse. The flavors, the textures, and the overall experience are a testament to their dedication to maintaining authenticity while catering to the Chennai audience. If you're a die-hard fan of Madurai style Parotta, or if you simply appreciate great food, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Pandiyan Hotel. Your taste buds will...
Read moreTamilnadu style taste, but not very authentic. Comparing other Chettinadu style restaurant dishes, this is good. Had dinner here - Parota, Kalaki (a variety omlette) and Chicken Chettinadu. Total expense is Rs.185, very cost effective. But only 16 people can accommodate at one stretch. This is my first visit, surprised to see family walk-in to "Muniyandi Vilas". Service wise they have to improve alot or we should not keep any service oriented expectations in this environment. Drinking water quality is poor, noticed "Oil" floting in the water they served, but it's good that they have Bislery water. Pepsi is also available. Overall experience, moderate. If you are not expecting any high Funda things, you...
