Ambur Star Biryani — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I have been a regular customer of STAR Briyani, ordering their delicious briyani through Zomato. However, my recent attempt to visit their restaurant in Velachery left me disappointed and frustrated.

On a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 PM, I decided to dine in at STAR Briyani and experience their famous briyani firsthand. As I approached the restaurant, it became evident that there was a serious lack of space. There were already numerous customers waiting in a long queue, hoping to secure a seat. The place was packed to the brim, and I could hardly find any room to stand comfortably, let alone sit and enjoy my meal.

Feeling overwhelmed by the overcrowding, I made the difficult decision to walk out and search for an alternative nearby. It was disheartening to see such a popular restaurant fail to provide adequate seating arrangements for their customers, especially during peak hours. The management should seriously consider expanding the seating area or implementing a reservation system to handle the high demand efficiently.

Despite the disappointment, I did notice a couple of positive aspects about STAR Briyani. One notable feature was the ample parking space available for customers. It was a relief to find convenient parking nearby, considering the chaotic atmosphere inside the restaurant. Additionally, I observed a separate area designated for food delivery professionals to wait comfortably until their orders were ready. This shows that the restaurant recognizes the importance of catering to all types of customers.

Now, moving on to the highlight of my experience—the briyani itself. I must admit that the quality and taste of the briyani I have ordered from STAR Briyani via food delivery platforms have always been exceptional. The authenticity of their Ambur-style briyani is truly commendable, and it remains one of the best I have had the pleasure of savoring.

In conclusion, while I appreciate the delectable briyani that STAR Briyani consistently delivers, my recent visit to their restaurant in Velachery was far from satisfying. The lack of seating space and the excessive wait time due to overcrowding hindered my dining experience. #Starbiryani in Solapalayam, near Perundurai, Coimbatore - Salem Highway : BAD TREATMENT. It was 8:30 Pm Saturday 6th May 2017, We around 18 members visited this place while driving back from Coimbatore to Chennai to take Biryani, bearer Iyannar offered us place with warm smile to settle and gave leaves, with lots of expectation we ordered 14 chicken / mutton Biryani and other side dishes, bearer said they have only plain Biryani, we asked him that he should have informed earlier before offering us plates rather. Despite we ordered 14 plain Biryani's since it is Star Biryani, but it tastes like tomato rice, since it is not sufficient and in spite of bad taste with no time, we even ordered for more because we were hungry. Bearer replied plain Biryani also now not available, we were asked to take Naan and chicken gravey. Maximum people choose Biryani center to taste Biryani and I hope so ! Rather we were not happy with this behaviour and however we paid Rs.2626 to the bearer and reported to the manager about the incident and received no satisfactory response and finally manager said this is highway hotel and our quality will be moderate only, please do not expect the same taste which we had in AMBUR. Also he said we may not be the regular customer and taste will match accordingly. We went with lots of hopes because it is #StarBiryani, but now the big question is what happen to their hospitality, customer centric service and authentic taste we expect from this kind of hotels for the price they charge from us. These people should have told us the availability before offering the seat. We now regret we should have chosen road street hotel rather than believing such big brands who cheats their customers. I had been to this restaurant for lunch and it is not easy to reach as it is located in service lane of taramani - Velachery road. The ambience is nice with perfect AC level for summer.

Have ordered chicken dum biryani and hyderbadi chicken 65. The service is really good and the service manager suggested me to go for hyderabadi 65 rather normal version. The biryani and 65 served together which is good and I was extremely skeptical cos everytime I tasted star biryani in Chennai it always makes me disappointed but, this time it isn't.

Chicken dum biryani - The pieces were succulent and tender. Biryani was well cooked and perfect dum and piping hot 🔥 believe me or not have ordered one more for my crave ;) Rating - 4.5/5

Hyderbadi chicken 65 - The chicken pieces were fried and tossed with onion green chillies and some masalas. Again in this pieces weren't hard at all and all pieces were soft and crunchy outside. It was spicy but not extreme but manageable. Definitely must try! Rating - 4.5/5
