Saravana Bhavan - Anna Nagar — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I don't want to write this negative review as I see the food is good here. But want to mention what I experienced there when I visited with older people. I want to make sure the Hotel sets it right if they see this review. Server providing the food plates in hands. They don't keep the plates in front of you at the table. Taking the plates in hands is not acceptable for older people. Server asking bill amount without bill. Bill Counter Desk is not responding to customer. Kept waiting until they do their own job of mobile scanning pan card and aadhaar cards for their personal uses or official purposes. The Bill counter should address the customer when they are waiting to pay the bills or want the paid bill. It seems we have to pay the tips. Without Tips you are not welcome at the Hotel. You will be teased in your back which you can hear. Here, the response was not good. Hence the tip was not paid. Manager/Supervisor is not good at his work as he does not manage the servers well. Just stand and watch and nothing else. Might be frightened to ask the server to go and assist in taking requests from the customer. :-) We didn't take coffee today as it is cold coffee and not hot. Because, last time(last week) when we visited, the coffee is not good. Saravana Bhavan Coffee should be like "ah this is coffee". But the coffee is not hot. and no proper decotion. Very light coffee. When asked for doction, the decotion is cold and when added, the coffee...

My wife & I visited this restaurant having heard rave things about the great Saravana Bhavan. With no concierge to guide us to a table, we grabbed the only available ones, and waited for a waiter to attend to us. Ten minutes later, we continued waiting - only to then be told that they were not serving that table. A table that was inside the restaurant, placed right along the others with no sign!

We moved to a table that had just become available, where I requested the irritated waiter for chilled water. He served regular water in sambar stained glasses after 5 mins. Upon bringing it to his notice, he refused to remove the soiled glasses, instead placed 2 more glasses (chilled water this time). I ordered the sambar vada and my wife ordered the masala paper roast. The sambar vada was one of the worst I've ever had, but that may just be me. The dosa was very good, but I've had better. In Chennai. It could also do with a tad more aloo masala. There were an exact total of 2 waiters (and 1 person taking orders) for all the tables combined. Extremely slow, delayed service. Unfriendly, rude waiters. And the main waiter was very condescending and demeaning. Oh and the food was extremely overpriced! Never visiting this...

I have not seen such an worst experience with HSB in my life though i had been visiting for 20 years. First up all, its onam day and we visited for sadhya. The supervisor said to wait for 45 mts so that the table can be arranged and patiently waited at the waiting area. After that, we got to the table and again waited for another 30 mts for the sadhya to reach the table. After 1.30 hr, we got the meal on our table and we were surprised to see the meal served was tamilnadu special meals. We asked the supervisor and he told that sadhya meal was over and only special meal was available. Even without taking our consent, they delivered the meals, this was shocking. Finally, we dont have any options to accept the special meals since the time was already 3 30 pm. My concern was We ordered for sadhya meal and patiently waited for 1.30 hrs We was not asked what needs to served. In between while we were waiting on the table, few other persons were served with sadhya meals
