SREE AKSHAYAM — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Location ; shanthi colony main road, Anna nagar.

I have crossed this place many a times on my wheels, whenever I crossed this hotel it creates a mild slow moving traffic. This attracted this place towards it. So I made it a point to visit here. It is pure veggies place to try. I prefer this place for morning breakfast and evening snacks than lunch and dinner.

After parking my two wheeler on the pedestrian platform, I entered the place round morning 10.40am. My ultimate idea was to have mini tiffin so that I could taste all possible dishes at a time. But I know that mini tiffin will be available till 10. But still I wanna give a try. So when I occupied my place. I asked for mini tiffin. They said mini tiffin was over for the day,but spl mini tiffin was there.

The difference between mini tiffin and special mini tiffin was quantity, items and cost. So the cost was 40bucks and 90 bucks respectively.

After a wait of 3 minutes, special tiffin was served on the table. It contained ✅Ven Pongal ✅ medhu vadai ✅kesari ✅1pc idly ✅choice between masala dosai or poori ✅coffee or tea ✅ coconut chutney, Kara chutney, urulai kaezhangu masala and Vada curry.

So I started tasting everything in random initially, starting with Sambhar and chutney, out of taste bud experience I would say Sambhar 👎👎could have been better as I expected something from this place. Otherwise chutney, vadacurry was all decent enough..

Idly was just one piece, but mainly warmth of idly was lacking a lot. So again idly dint impress me here. Followed by ven Pongal, it was good but the same problem of lack of warmth in it. Kesari had a appropriate amount of sweetness in it, not very high nor less amount of sugar. Next vadai was not very fresh, I could sense it from its crispness. Only masala dosai was direct from tawa and I liked it. At the end I opted for coffee, it was good for morning breakfast over here.

❌the main drawback was the warmth of the mini tiffin on overall was lacking may be since I went around 10.30 even though I think it's their duty to serve it hot.

❌❌ this is major failure in service, they dint serve water to drink the moment u sit here, me while having my breakfast in between asked for water suddenly and got it served. So it s a very bad point to be highlighted here.

Ambience : really more than enough for a decent vegetarian hotel to be. So no worries about it.

Pricing 💰💳💸 Cost wise again it is acceptable for what we get here. So it's justifiable.

[16/05, 4:49 pm] Murali: I booked a small party hall in Akshayam Anna Nagar for the Maruveedu function of my newly married son and daughter in law for 120 guests on 14th May 2025 afternoon.

The AC was not working properly, but despite numerous complaints, it was not rectified.

After all the guests had finished their lunch, we (the grooms family and the brides family), around 10 persons, wanted to have our lunch the staff saying that the 120 count was over.

When we pointed out that there was still so much food still left over and 15 banana leaves were also there, they said the leaves were torn and we will have to pay extra for those who were going to have food.

In order to avoid confrontation with them before the brides family , I agreed and they went away saying they will bring fresh plantain leaves.

We waited and waited for more than 30 minutes and almost all guests started to leave and it was getting very late and the situation was becoming more embarrassing by the minute for making the bride and groom and the brides family waiting for the food.

After half an hour they brought the leaves, laid the table and provided the food which by then had become cold and stale.

They charged 12 pax extra for us and there was not a single word of apology from either the staff or the Manager. They reduced Rs. 1000 in total bill for the A C failure

And the toilet was extremely dirty and stinking badly but no effort was made to clean it despite informing them many times.

Went into the place only after the rave reviews and the word of mouth this place has over a period from the locals. Tried out a few owing to their reputation,

Kuzhi paniyaram and Paal paniyaram - Typical sour paniyaram with spicy dip for the first plate, decent enough; for the milk variant, it was soft, spongy and soaked in the sweet milk thereby giving a kick along every scoop

Charminar idly and Pottalam Idly - Not sure what was the big deal in both; the former had spicy podi being smothered all around while the latter was literally a parcel idly with getti chutney and podi around, Disappointment

Paya idly - The paya had too much salt with only sour flavor along every dip, slurpy yet not the best paya

Set dosa with Vadacurry - What we thought was the layered dosa but came out was individual dosas with sides; the vadacurry was spicy and good but there was nothing much to appreciate on the whole

Gobi manchurian - Semi gravy gobi tossed in mild spiced sauces; was one of the better dishes which was pretty much a snack

Madurai Kolambu dosa - TBH, I don't think they served us right since this one came out as dosa with native gravies on the same, NO COMMENTS

Mango milkshake - Something brain freezing to end the meal with

So, it was sheer disappointment. Except for the paniyaram and vadacurry, this place was not what I thought it was. The only saving soul was the price despite ordering plenty of dishes. The service was OK, with little waiting time, ambience was MEH and GOOD parking space.
