This rating is not for the food I love the food there and I have visited chennai branch a few times and today I faced a bad service the worse service to be frank I felt humiliated by the billing staff I payed for 5 fries with chicken and 1 regular shawarma but they could only provide 5 fries with chicken and as a customer I accept that sometimes restaurants or quick services run out of food it happens but as customers we accept decent apology from the service department but where as the billing staff behaviour was not at all acceptable the owner came upto me and apologised for the incident and offered refund of the item and complimentary nuggets where as the staff questioned the owner infront of me like why should we give him free nuggets we already is ready for refund and that's all needed.the refund amount was 135 and the staff gave me 100 and said we are already giving complimentary nuggets so what is the need of 35 such humiliation infront owner I couldn't stand it I refused the complimentary dish and got my refund and left the scene . The staff doesn't even respect his owner so how can a customer expect it!! Worst experience from smoky docky never faced these kind of issues in Bangalore outlets. Very disappointed and they lost a...
Read moreSmoky Docky serves 'Charcoal' Shawarma right on Elliots Beach. The smell of the meat being roasted over coals was inviting, so I thought of giving it a go.
Looking at the menu, their basic Shawarma starts at ₹146, which I found a bit expensive. Nevertheless I gave it a try. It came within 5 minutes and was a bit larger than what one usually gets.
However this wasn't a Shawarma. In India, you rarely get authentic Arab style Shawarma but rather a roll with veg, meat and a generous helping of Garlic sauce/ Mayo. The Smoky Docky Shawarma was definitely far from the ones you get at other places. The bread used was Rumali and not Kuboos, so that surprised me. The meat was juicy and the flavour of the coal had definitely seeped into the meat. The sauce was a bit off putting. I'd rather have Garlic Sauce/ Toum in the Shawarma instead of whatever they've put in it. It had some cheesy touch to it, which I did not like. The toasting of the wrap was a good touch, giving a bit of crisp to the Rumali.
To sum it up, you could try it once, just for the flavour of the meat, but otherwise nothing special. P.S: I hope they...
Read moreIf you're looking for a spot to enjoy delicious food by the beach, this place is an absolute must-try! The shawarma is hands down one of the best I've ever had. It's packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served with generous portions of tender meat wrapped in warm.
But what really stole the show were the loaded fries. These aren't your average fries—crispy, golden fries topped with a savory mix of cheese, sauces, and your choice of extras. The combination is heavenly, and it's the perfect snack to enjoy while taking in the ocean breeze.
The atmosphere is super chill, making it the perfect spot to hang out with friends or just enjoy a solo meal. The location near the beach adds to the experience—whether you’re grabbing a bite after a swim or just want to relax with some great food, this place ticks all the boxes. The service is friendly, and everything is reasonably priced for the quality you’re getting.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this gem. It’s one of those places you’ll definitely...
