After trying out Kasi vinayaga mess in triplicane wanted to try Thanjavur mess in West Mambalam. Sunday afternoon. Less patrons and more takeaways. A meal costs ₹80/- without curd. A very simple affair. Typical mess food and mess ambience. Served on banana leaf.
Today the menu was kadamba sambar, potato podimas and chowchow kootu. Served along with vattalkozambhu, pepper rasam and buttermilk. Unlimited rice and servings. Rasam was better than sambar. Kozhambhu was a let down. The porial and kootu was good. No payasam.

Thanjavur Mess is one of the best places to dine in if you’re craving authentic South Indian dishes.
