It's definitely not inexpensive if that's what you expect from the ambience and the photos that you see. It has the nostalgic charm if anyone is a fan of that. The ambience, the waiters all would take you down the memory lane - there are quite a few places like that in Chennai. Taste of the food's quite good. Puries seemed to be made from whole wheat - it didn't have the whiteness or stretchiness of maida. Really puffed up nicely they feel very light. One would be done with it in a jiffy. I think you can take second helpings of the subji. The person opposite me asked for it and it was given . Had I known it i wouldn't have been rationing and rationalizing the subji that I was taking with every piece of the second puri. I would have been more indiscriminate and perhaps enjoyed it better. The subji is mild and nice. The rava Dosa was really nice with a firm backbone - crispy and nice to eat. Sambar was good with a nice flavor. Only coconut chutney was served. Kara chutney was also there but wasn't served by default. Perhaps they would have if I had asked. But the sambar and chutney tasted so good that I didn't want a deviation/ distraction. Coffee was also good. Normally I do not like the smell of milk in my filter coffee. But here I did smell milk and it felt good. Waiters serve well and they also expect to be tipped.

This restaurant is very much close to my heart as I was a regular visitor to this place during my childhood days way back in 1996-97. I have given 4 star rating for few of reasons like, its one of the very old restaurants functioning to date in vadapalani area. The old charm is still retained, no modernisation, no face-lift, same old name board, there are some waiters who are employed here for more than 3 decades and that's very much appreciated. This place reminds me of server sundaram movie, a similar restaurant where legendary actor Mr. Nagesh used to work for. This place maintains the same quality to date. Remember the sambar idly I used to have for Rs. 5/- (giggles) wayback in late 90's. Located just opposite to the vadapalani lord murangan temple entrance arch. According to me this is one of the iconic place. Many modern restaurants could come up, but this is close to my heart. Wishing the management to be in the business for ages....

This place had been on my wishlist for quite some time after seeing multiple reviews on Instagram vlogs and YouTube influencers. Finally, I got a chance to visit, but since I was in a hurry, I opted for takeaway instead of dining in. Taste-wise, the food was good and satisfying, but honestly, I felt the pricing was on the higher side compared to many other hotels that offer similar dishes. The ambience also didn’t feel worth the price tag — maybe it works better if you go for dine-in, but for takeaway it felt a little underwhelming. I’ve attached the bill as well for reference, so you can decide for yourself. Overall, a nice try, but personally I felt it’s a bit pricey for what it offers.

As confirmed I am a resident of Vadapalani and have been. Patronizing your breakfast for many year mainly because of quality, portion and price. Now I have a serious suggestion their are customers like us who come for breakfast after workout, yoga, walking, vendors, etc etc who may require a little bit more portion particularly PONGAL.WHY NOT SPLIT PONGAL IN TWO PORTIONS ONE REGULAR SIZE @ Rs 65, and a LARGE PORTION SIZE @ RS 100.So that customers who are a bit more hungry can have the LARGE SIZE.Thus will also boost your business.

Though very homely food.Their is two grievance.1. The red chutney is not8 ready even at 7.00a.m when other menus is ready. This chutney goes well with Pongal and Dosa. 2 .The vads in the morning has a strong taste /smell as if fried in recooked /reused oil.please look into the above urgently otherwise a good hotel to be recommended. Pongal quality has to be looked in 13th oct 23 it was semi liquid. 14th Oct no pepper ,no curry leaves just blunt. VADA CURRY WOW EXCELLENT...
