Mi Thanekar — Restaurant in Thane

We visited their old outlet for lunch. The new one is within walking distance. The old outlet has limited seating, we had to wait for more than an hour, and it was extremely hot outside. Even the new outlet had a rush.

Ambience:

The ambience was just okay. The AC wasn’t working, and after standing outside in the heat and humidity, this made it worse. It wasn’t just me but other customers were visibly frustrated due to the lack of proper cooling.

Food:

Food is the main reason one should come here. The taste was amazing. We tried most of their chicken and seafood starters and loved them. Quantity and price-wise, I would strongly recommend Chicken Lollipop (oil fry) - total "paisa vasool". Bombil Fry was superb. Their recommended "Chicken Kalimiri Kebab" was also excellent in taste. Surmai Tandoori was fresh and flavorful.

We also tried "Prawns Tandoori", which I found overpriced and not worth it for the quantity (small size). Same goes for the Crab Lollipop. Chicken Manchow Soup had good thickness and taste. Solkadhi was better than what you get at most restaurants. Paneer dishes were also good. For the main course, we tried Chicken Agri Handi, which was just okay as per my taste.

Overall, I was very happy with the taste & I'd honestly give 10 out of 5 for that.

Pricing:

A few items felt overpriced such as Prawns Tandoori and Crab Lollipop especially were nearly double the usual rate. Only select dishes, like the Chicken Lollipop really justify their pricing.

Service:

Service was very slow, especially for tandoor items. you have to place those orders well in advance. I’d rate service 1/5. Definitely an area that needs improvement.

Chinese Cuisine:

I didn’t get a chance to try their full Chinese menu, except soup. But based on their Schezwan sauce, I’m confident it will be best in taste.

Conclusion:

Taste-wise, this place stands out compared to other seafood restaurants. You get a wide range of dishes under one roof, which is a plus. So 5/5 for same. But due to the long waiting time, slow service, and some overpriced items, I’m giving it an overall rating...

The food is very average, nothing special, the seating is not very comfortable it's congested. There is lots of baggage stuffed beneath the seating and then there are mosquitoes due to it. The service is absolutely pathetic. There was a power cut and we had to eat half of our dinner under our mobile torchlight. Thankfully the power was back at least for the rest half of our dinner. The manager/ owner is the most pathetic person we have ever met. Poor mannerisms, arrogant talk, no understanding of customers issues. Also, the major highlight of this place is, "be assured that your vehicle will get towed if you park outside the restaurant". There is no dedicated parking place, the owner will not care about your vehicle because guess what, you have already paid the dining bill. Neither will they tell you where to park nor will they help you if your vehicle gets towed. So your vehicle is at its own mercy. Went out of the way due to a recommendation received by relative and she had received it from some YouTuber named Ranjita.I have never seen such a worst hotel in terms of all parameters-Food ,Service and Ambience.I don’t understand how come that YouTuber has rated and Hyped it so well. We were 4 family members .It took 45 minutes to land 1st thali on our table post more 14 mins for 2nd one and more 20 minutes for 3rd .We took pomfret tandoori thali -Pomfret was half cooked ,We had bombay duck Thali. As I swallowed the Bombay Duck it took me 1 minute to find out the bombay duck in the marinated covering which was of Besan material.The Solkadi was not fresh it had a rotten smell.The Prawns biryani was not fresh. Congested with no spacious sitting.I was searching for No star but Google has no option .
