Spotlight Skydeck is currently one of the most happening places in Thane. Situated at Wagle Estate, on the 13th floor of the Centrum building, this rooftop restaurant is completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of Thane City. Be it a date or a hangout with your friends, Spotlight Skydeck has got you covered. The instrumental music that plays in the background won our hearts. You can enjoy the music as well as hear what your friends are speaking. The food here may seem a little overpriced, but remember you're at Spotlight for the whole experience of the place and you're bound to have a good time. They also have live music in the evenings which you wouldn't want to miss! Make sure you reserve a table beforehand as it gets pretty crowded during peak hours. You may not get to sit outside if they are hosting a private event.
Take a look at what we tried here :
Fish Fingers : 6 Crunchy Fish Sticks served with Tartar sauce. This was truly lip-smacking with the basa fish being so soft and tender, and the outer covering being perfectly crisp. Fish Fingers obviously taste best with Tartar sauce! The price to portion ratio can be improved.
Kale Chane ki Tikki in Mini Kulcha Taco Shells : Naam me hi description hai, literally. The tikki was so flavourful and the chopped veggies and mayo definitely made the dish all the more better. The kulcha taco shells were also quite soft and well cooked. Please eat it hot else it gets soggy.
Pan Seared Bhetki Steak : This is served on a bed of butter parsley rice with orange butter sauce. The sauce is definitely something unique that we've tried and it tastes amazing with the fish. Just the sauce alone may taste a little bitter. The 2 pieces of Bhetki (Barramundi) were well cooked. The dish also contained a variety of vegetables including broccoli, baby corn, zucchini, etc. We loved the presentation of the dish!😍 The price to portion ratio can be improved.
Kala Khatta Pome-grande : A mocktail containing Kala Khatta, pomegranate pearls, lime juice, soda. It was fresh and the combination of the juices were very good. This truly had us reminisce the kala khatta gola we have at the beachside.
Virgin Frozen Strawberry Margarita : Sometimes its the classics which turn out to be amazing. This mocktail is basically crushed ice infused with real strawberry pulp/juice. The drink is so very fresh and rejuvenating. You can either have it as and when the ice melts or have the...
Read moreFirstly, we were glad to find a place worth hanging out with friends in thane. But this place is literally just a "place". DO NOT expect that you will get good food or service here.
Table for 7 means table for 7. You cannot assign a table for 6 and ask one person to squeeze in. After exchange of a few dialogues we were assigned a table for 7.
We were handed over one food menu and one drinks menu to decide when there were so many menus lying around.
Any restaurant has the etiquette to assign one waiter for a table. We ordered 3-4 times and everytime it was a different person who took the order.
We ordered starters, hard drinks, cocktails and mocktails. The cocktails and mocktails where quite good. Hard drinks cannot be played around with. But starters, they messed it like hell. Veg - stuffed paneer roll, tandoor mushroom, corn chaat, loaded nachos - all were good. Veg mushroom pizza - bland and mushroom was raw. They didn't even help us with oregano and chilli flakes even after 2-3 requests Non veg - Fried chicken - looked like KFC chicken but the coating was not that crispy and chicken was totally bland Loaded chicken nachos- good Chicken reshmi kebab- two of us were on the verge of puking after taking a bite. The chicken smelt of something nasty. We had to complain and they agreed to cut it off the bill Chicken lollypop- only chicken item that was standard taste and edible Veg and chicken manchao soup - they seem to not understand the difference between soup and manchao gravy...they literally served manchao gravy minus the balls. It was so thick that after 5-10 mins there was thick layer that dried up at the top. Again no sauces were provided upon repeated requests.
Service - no designated waiter start to end, we had to ask 5 times to clear the plates after starters and bring us fresh plates for main course. Expert tip - carry ur own water, they will make u die out of thirst. It felt like we were begging for water and he would come and pour half a glass.
Finally, the pathetic evening was saved by the live dj. He played retro surprisingly for a Sunday evening, but managed to drop in some recent hits in between. Again, people struggled to dance in between the tables and with waiters and other customers walking around.
All in all, a place you can seriously avoid if you value your...
