This is one of the oldest hotels that is situated in "Therku Vasal" (South Gate) adjacent to the Therku Chithirai Veedhi (South Chithirai Street).
Though the hotel (which resembles more like a house) might look big, it can accommodate only 16 People at a stretch.
They open around 2 PM and close around 4 PM or 5 PM depending on the availability of any food. They serve only tiffin items during this time and 1 sweet (First time you will see a hotel which is so famous just offering tiffins during 2 to 4 PM or so).
This is not the usual type of hotel where we go into and order food and eat. This is a place where you eat what they offer. Menu would include Idly, Sambar Vadai (small Vadai), Keerai Vadai, Upma, Dosa, Rava Dosa, Godhumai Dosai, Vendhaya Dosai, Poori and Coffee. Not all will be available daily and The menu differs daily - But mostly the Vada, Dosai will be available most of the days along with Coffee. (They start serving Dosai when other items - like Idly or Poori are getting over and offer it till they have sufficient batter.
Few things you need to note : You may have to wait in queue for a place and can't be assured of seating for all the family members at the same table. (you have to sit wherever you get a place, eat and leave..) People will be waiting for place, as you eat ... You need to dispose the "Ilai" (Banana leaf) after eating.

Read moreClassic, no-nonsense veg tiffin and meals a short walk from the river/temple circuit. Breakfast comes hot and fast—soft idlis, crisp ghee roast, pongal that’s comfort in a bowl, and fresh chutneys. Lunch on banana leaf is generous with timely refills; dinner tiffin is perfect if you want something light after darshan. Prices are sensible, staff are polite, and plates keep moving.
What I liked: consistent taste, quick service even when it’s busy, clean dining hall, and filter coffee that actually hits the spot.
Could be better: peak-hour crowding (expect a brief wait), seating feels tight, and parking on the approach road can be a small puzzle.
Good to know: UPI/cash usually fine; you can ask for less oil/ghee; sambar/chutney refills are happily given—just request. Great stop before or after temple darshan.
Tip: go before 9:15 am for breakfast or after 8 pm for dinner to skip the rush. Try a ghee roast with a side of vada and finish with...
