I visited after reading all the nice comments and was excited to try the food out. But the moment i entered the entire mood got spoiled because of the restaurant staff.
The restaurant was almost empty with just 3 tables occupied and all the tables had 1 of 2 guests. I was about to sit on a table for 4 and the staff asked me if I was a single person and signalled me to move to the bar table (shelf on the wall for single guests). I wouldn't generally mind if it was crowded or other single guests were also all on side tables. I felt discriminated against as being the only indian i was asked to vacate the table. I didn't feel like having anything but ordered just 1 dish because of the efforts i made to come up 3 floors.
I wouldn't recommend this place to fellow Indian guests but if you're not an Indian you will be treated well, go for it.
Edit after restaurant response - Seems like you responded without reading my review completely. Single foreigners were allowed to occupy table for 4, the staff particularly targeted an indian and were terribly rude in the manner...
Read moreThe atmosphere is relaxed here. Staff was ok for me. Food was below average and mine started from deep fried main ingredients. I ordered the vegan chili with tofu but got patato instead. When I claimed this, they were willing to replace. I just had potatoes. During dinner my stomach started protesting. When I claimed this, they denied, use filtered water and cook fresh. They gave me 15% discount and stomach tablet advice in writing.
Later that night it was obvious I had a food poisoning. Due to the reaction of my stomach it was caused by dinner but one cannot be sure. I had no streetfood earlier this day and am always cautious. Dinner and lunch ended up on the street and in the toilet. My guess is from bad mixed fruit juice, that comes from the pack, not fresh. Or the cup they reuse maybe was rinsed with tap water. In the end, the discount should have been 200% for both...
Read moreThis place is an oasis of tranquility in the middle of the chaos of Varanasi. Quiet, with a delicate and welcoming decor, it has a great menu for foreigners who want Indian food without too much spice and some Western options. I tried the veg thali with chai with almond milk and coconut cake for lunch. I went back the next day for a full breakfast at the Health option, with a mix of items like juice, toast, oatmeal, eggs, and tea. I also had vegetable soup and pakora for dinner as a starter, with chocolate cake for dessert. I finished with a cheese sandwich with pesto and tomato for breakfast. All the meals were delicious, with impeccable presentation. The service was great, fast and attentive. It was worth every step of the three floors we climbed...
