Baba Lassi in Varanasi is an iconic spot that any visitor must try for a taste of the city's famous lassi. Located in the bustling lanes of the old city, this place offers an authentic and delightful lassi experience that stands out.
The lassi at Baba Lassi is simply superb. Served in traditional earthen cups, each lassi is thick, creamy, and perfectly sweetened. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every sip. Whether you choose the classic plain lassi or one of their fruit variations, you are in for a treat. The mango lassi, in particular, is a favorite, bursting with the flavor of ripe mangoes.
The ambiance of the shop adds to the charm. It's a small, cozy place with a rustic feel, capturing the essence of Varanasi's old-world charm. The seating is limited, so you might have to wait for a bit during peak hours, but the lassi is well worth the wait.
The service is friendly and efficient. The staff are welcoming and often share interesting stories about the history of their shop and the city. Their passion for what they do shines through, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Baba Lassi is not just a place to quench your thirst but a destination to immerse yourself in the local culture and flavors of Varanasi. Whether you are a local or a tourist, a visit to Baba Lassi is sure to leave you with a sweet and satisfying memory of this...
ย ย ย Read moreLassi of Banaras like the thandai or banaras is another hype. It's actually a mythology and an example of crowd psychology. The lassi is served in kullahad so volume is small for lassi. After seeing the quantity I couldn't stop expressing my surprise and blurted out " is this the lassi"? After tasting it went to the man at the counter, handed over Rs. 40 to him and said " bhai saheb, jise aap lassi kehte hain, usko hum dahi chini kehte hain". If you want to have banaras lassi, just take some curd, give it a whisk, add powdered sugar, sprinkle some raisins and drink it. No need of putting even Malai on the top. A piece of curd would do the honours. And you would have banaras lassi at lass than a quarter of money what you would otherwise pay for lassi at banaras. Banaras lassi is another fraud like the banaras thandai. Thankfully banaras doesn't attract many from Punjab otherwise the Punjab lassi consumers could turn violent at the volume, appearance and taste of this funny mix called banaras lassi. If you want to have lassi please visit Amritsar or anywhere else...

I bought an Special Lassi here and he on purpose didn't tell me that the special lassi is made of some sort of weed or something like that. and later that night, I literally had the worst time of my life. I thought i was going to have a heart attack. Thank God there were people to help me. And the next day when i told him about what happened, he just laughed like it was a joke and told me not to tell anyone. I guess this guy should tell people what it is made of. But I'm not saying that this place is bad. This place has one of the best lassi I've ever had. So, if you're in Varanasi, you should definitely visit...
