Big Daddy terrible experience
I visited Big Daddy in Gomtinagar this evening, and considering the dull vibe, I planned to leave within half an hour after waiting for a few friends. I was enjoying the french fries I ordered when I arrived. I expected this place to be a decent bar/cafe to relax, given its high rating on Google Maps. Here's my rant. Please bear with the story and see how everything contributed to the overall experience. I found a table quickly as the place was almost empty. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming the crowd would arrive later, as parties usually start around 8-9 PM. I got an outside table with a nice view, but it lacked cushions. They brought cushions from a dirty stack. They cleaned the table when we arrived. Keep in mind that this was during peak business hours for such cafes/restaurants, and their tables were dirty. They eventually brought the fries after an eternity, which I enjoyed with my girlfriend. Later, I asked for regular water, and the waiter brought only the water, not the glasses. I don't know what he was thinking, and this particular guy was a source of constant frustration. Then, I asked for glasses to drink the water and noticed the bottle was sealed. I asked again for regular water, but he refused. I was still okay with it as I planned to leave soon. So, I asked the waiter for the bill and started taking some pictures. I expected to receive the bill quickly for a single order of fries, but they didn't even communicate with each other to get it. I went outside again to ask for the bill, and the waiter told me to ask the person I ordered with. I was furious because he mentioned this after 15 minutes of initially agreeing to get the bill. Then, I had to walk to the other waiter to get the bill, which should have been a simple 1-minute task. However, he took more than 10 minutes. I saw him serving other customers after taking my request. I went to him again and asked for the bill, but it was too late. I shouted that I was leaving and walked towards the exit. The guy immediately brought the bill after the heated argument. Despite the argument, he insisted on getting the bill settled, even though he said, 'These 400 rupees mean nothing to me.' I left the place after this fiasco, and my girlfriend apologized for the inconvenience caused by this specific waiter. I thought I should share this story with you all because I believe you can bring culture to the city, but you can't change the people. Thank you for reading the entire post. If you know anyone in the management of Big Daddy, I would appreciate connecting with them to provide this feedback. In the meantime, I will post this in my Google...
Read moreBig Daddy is a pub, resto-bar, lounge, whatever you may wish to call it which is bringing the culture of metro cities like Bombay, Delhi, Pune etc to Lucknow by way of its ambience and set. I did not give it full 5 stars coz of the following two reasons: It is a little difficult to locate as it's board is not big enough or rather not that eye catching. So if someone is going there for the first time, it would be a little difficult, especially if you navigate your way through google maps, you would be directed to some other building in the vicinity, something which happened to me personally. The pub is facing some liquor licence issues which was not at all what I expected after the big hype of this place.
Otherwise, the pub offers great service when it comes to food and beverages. There taste, presentation and freshness is top notch. The service is commendable as they are on a constant lookout for customers who need something in complete politeness and humility. The lounge has great quirky set up with funky lighting and good music system. It even has a small space to dance for, almost like a little disco... The setting of the space is phenomenal and they even have open rooftop seating area to spend an evening gazing and enjoying the sunset. It may come in a little pricey sometimes, i.e. it is not one of the student-friendly places but at par with or maybe a little pricey than the regular pubs or resto-bars.
Oh, and one must definitely try the hookahs here... They are one of the best I have had in the city. So all in all... It's a definite must go, and can be made a regular...
Read moreCan't go below 1star.. If it was possible.. It would be 0 for this restaurant. The general manager of this place doesn't want customers.. We had knocksense app coupons for a meal worth 1500 rs.. After spending 14k on the app and coupons valid for a year.. The manager said we will not accept it.. Whereas they had accepted coupons earlier.. We had guests and the bill was supposed to be more than 1500rs .. But the management and staff at the restaurant wanted us to leave. There are uneducated and unprofessional people working for the restaurant. No waiter/waitress even come to take our order when we wanted to order. The entire restaurant was empty both times we came.. No wonder anyone even comes to the place.. The food is average.. The staff behaves immature and unprofessional. The gm is the worst hospitality manager I've ever seen while travelling around the world. No business ethics. No one even served water.. This shows the standard of hospitality. They judge people according to their perception of money.. We were supposed to have a celebration today.. But it got embarrassingly ugly because of the cheap and unprofessional...
