Kava — Restaurant in Uttar Pradesh

I recently visited Kava at Fairfield Marriott for a family dinner with a party of 14, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.

Firstly, the air conditioning was not working, making the dining area uncomfortably warm. This issue set a negative tone for the evening.

The service was incredibly slow. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, we faced long wait times for our orders and any assistance we needed. The live counters, usually a highlight, were also operating at a sluggish pace, adding to our frustration.

The menu was another major letdown. It lacked variety and the advertised South Indian counters were completely unavailable, which was a significant disappointment for many in our group. The main course options that were available were mediocre at best.

Additionally, the staff appeared undertrained and unprepared to handle the needs of the guests. They struggled to provide prompt service and accurate information about the menu items.

Kava at Fairfield By Marriott is a decent restaurant. We were staying at the hotel, so had a few meals at Kava, and not just lunch.

Overall, we liked the food and the service. The only downside was that we did not get a good variety of Lucknow / Awadhi cuisine. The few regional items that were available were just okay.

One specific dish on the menu "Nalli Nihari" which the restaurant states is a "delicacy of Lucknow" was disappointing. The marrow is the highlight of this dish. However, the restaurant does not provide a marrow spoon! When we mentioned this to the staff (Vaishnav) we were told that the spoon is not available in Lucknow. And that we were the first guests to ask for it. Does Amazon not deliver to Lucknow? Do people in Lucknow waste the marrow? Or are they okay with an unsightly experience of sucking the marrow out of the bone in a public restaurant! If you cannot do justice to a regional delicacy, please provide the appropriate cutlery or take the dish off the menu!

The choices are limited here and the preparation is fine won't say its very good also the service is very very slow and also the staff is quite unresponsive sometimes. The preparation of the desserts especially the mousse and the tiramisu was also not very much upto the mark while the presentation was fine. And also the Biryani was VERY VERY PATHETIC and sweet . Never tasted such a Biryani before. I guess for adding there own flavours they have just ruined it completely. Also, one of their staff members started arguing when we told them that the service was very slow when we had ordered a white sauce pasta since the starting and recieved it at the end...
