Yes, it can get busy, and some dishes may vary, but the overall experience remains dear to many hearts. Read moreMarksmen is an iconic outlet of Lucknow, standing tall (and always crowded) from as long as I can remember. Some delicacies like Dosa and their Indo-chinese dishes have been their superstar dishes for decades now. Keeping all this in mind, I recently visited to reminisce those memories as I happened to be back in Lucknow on my birthday, and I just cannot describe the heartbreak💔!
Okay, so the place has got a beautiful makeover. Rather than the hustling bustling food joint, it now looks like a proper cafe with a European vibe (coz well, everyone wants Instagrammable interiors right!). The place looks really good, but the makeover lacks some sense. For instance, why would you want to decrease the seating capacity when I try to renovate a place!🤷🏻♂️ They have taken some outer area as well as part of the whole structure now, but even then the capacity is reduced.
Coming to the food, oh boy, that’s where the real heartbreak starts. They have revamped their complete menu! Most of the dishes which they used to serve have now been replaced by the new ones. One of their best-sellers, Chicken Chowmein, does not exist. They will just give you Chilly Garlic Noodles instead of that. I didn’t really like Chilly Garlic Noodles either, you can have much better version of that in Hazratganj itself. The Dosa was good, probably the only thing which they haven’t changed yet.
Overall, it was an extremely disappointing birthday dinner for me. For most of the time, I was in complete disbelief that this could happen. Renovation, makeover everything is fine, but WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU REVAMP THE COMPLETE MENU! Make additions to the menu, introduce new cuisines, but how can you think about removing everything which has made you a household name in the city since decades! I just do not have a clue what brainless management decided to do this. Even if they want to realise a new dream of an upbeat cafe, just open a new one! YOU CANNOT CALL IT MARKSMEN ANYMORE, IT IS CHEATING AND FOOLING people in broad daylight. Its like selling a completely new product under the exact same packaging, which definitely misguides the consumers.
PS - They have their cloud kitchen running with the older menu, so if you order from Swiggy or Zomato, you can save yourself from...

The best thing which we love about this place is its food.
The restaurant marksmen , as its name is totally unique. Its basically popular for the dosas they serve and yes pav bhaji too.
The best thing between the two which I like is dosa.
Dosas served here are large , one is enough to fulfill your hunger and tastes awesome. You can have unlimited quantity of sambhar and chutney along with this .
They serve you the dosa split into two equal halves , abowl if sambhar , and a bowl of chutney , white chutney.A fork, a spoon and a knife.
The restaurant is not a luxury or a five star restaurant , its just like a common restaurant we can find aside indian roads , Its clean and tidy , You have a washbasin to wash your hands and tables are often wiped by the cleaners.
Its usually overcrowded and you need to wait in order to find an empty space .
I have also tasted the pao bhaji here, Yes it tastes good , The bhaji is just mouth waterring , pao served are fresh and serving style is proper .
I usually visit this place whenever I am in lucknow , when I think of food , I think for marksmen .
Also this place is crowded because of its economical rates , The rates are reasonable and quality and hygeine which we get is great .
So I will say this restaurant gives you...
