OVERVIEW (Decorum & Ambiance) This is definitely an upmarket diner in this area where every other food outlet is mostly a takeaway or stands by the road, while this outlet takes into consideration a good relaxing experience while the food gets served. And it’s definitely targeted towards the foreigners/tourists for a good dining experience different from what’s offered here commonly in Banaras.
EXPERIENCE So ideally for someone who’s tired & looking for a place to enjoy his food away from the hustle-bustle of the city.
FOOD Food here is OK, not Great. In terms of preparation & taste, wouldn’t say wow or yummy kind of experience but decent. Doesn’t justify its worth though.
RATES & WORTH The downside here is the rates of menu items that don’t feel overwhelmingly high until the food is served, but then the realisation hits hard when you see the quantity. The prices charged here wouldn’t really be a big issue had it been in neighbourhood where the competition would be similar, but when you’re serving at a place where similar quality with almost double the quantity is available at 1/3 of the money, you’ll be looked upon with big eyes.
One who opts to dine here by choice obviously can manage with price, but the quantity still somehow feels like a scam, when food bowls are almost full spoon height but could only dip the head of it and realise its just a show gimmick.
With the FSSAI regulations coming in, hopefully this shouldn’t be an issue soon in future, if at all it’s implemented in Banaras.
RECOMMENDATION I’d recommend to try it here only if you’re looking for a relaxing dine-in in this area, and you’re ready to pay with no resent later. You may try to avoid comparisons with the neighbourhood, to feel...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Satvik Restaurant in Varanasi, and it was a delightful experience centered around tradition, purity, and rich flavors.
Satvik Thali – This thali is ideal for those seeking a sattvic, no-onion-no-garlic meal. Every dish was light yet flavorful, emphasizing natural ingredients and a balanced nutritional profile. The dal was smooth and comforting, while the sabzi and chapatis were fresh and perfectly cooked. The meal felt wholesome and left me feeling nourished rather than heavy.
Banarasi Thali – A perfect tribute to Varanasi’s culinary roots. The Banarasi Thali was vibrant and rich, featuring local favorites like Baati Chokha, Poori Bhaji, and a sweet jalebi to finish. The flavors were authentic and made with care, especially the baati which had the right texture and smoky taste.
Ambiance & Service – The restaurant is clean and serene, with polite and attentive staff. Service was prompt, and the servers were happy to explain dishes or accommodate preferences.
Value for Money – Reasonably priced for the quality and variety offered. The portion sizes were generous and satisfying.
Overall: Rating: 4.5/5 Satvik Restaurant is a must-visit for those wanting to explore Varanasi’s traditional cuisine with a modern, clean twist. Both thalis showcase the depth of Indian vegetarian food without being overly rich or heavy.

Read moreMy first visit to Varanasi was made even more special by my stay at Pearl Courtyard and the unforgettable dining experience at Sattvik. Varanasi is famous for its delicious chaat, and after trying a few places around town, I can honestly say that Sattvik serves the most incredible food. But what truly sets this place apart is the warmth and hospitality of the team.
The stewards, Shashank and Shivam, along with the restaurant manager Akshay, are some of the kindest and most gracious people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment I walked in, they made me feel like part of their family. They ensured the food was to my liking, were attentive without being intrusive, and always had a smile on their faces. Their genuine care for the guests made the entire experience so memorable.
If you find yourself in Varanasi, I wholeheartedly recommend Sattvik. Be sure to say hello to Shashank, Shivam, and Akshay – they truly make the place feel like home. I’m giving them a well-deserved 10/10 for their food, service, and heartwarming...
