If you're looking for homely, well-prepared food in a neat and tidy environment, Gnanapoorani Mess is definitely worth a visit! This is a small yet well-maintained mess that serves simple, flavorful meals, perfect for those who enjoy traditional and comforting dishes. Here’s what we tried and loved:
Food Quality:
Poori Masala (₹50 for 2 pooris): The poori was perfectly made—not too oily, light, and crispy, while the masala was flavorful and tasted just right. Excellent quality at a reasonable price.
Lemon Sevai (₹60): The lemon sevai was delightful—refreshing, light, and packed with the right amount of tanginess and spice. A great choice if you're looking for something different from the usual tiffin options.
Kal Dosa (₹60 for 1 set): Soft and perfectly cooked, the kal dosa set was another winner. It’s the ideal comfort food, especially when paired with their chutney and sambar.
Filter Coffee (₹20): Their filter coffee was exceptional—aromatic, rich, and just what we needed to finish off the meal. Highly recommended for coffee lovers!
Ambience & Cleanliness: While Gnanapoorani Mess is a small place, it’s well-maintained and very clean. The simple, no-frills setup gives a cozy and homely vibe, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal.
Service: The staff were polite and attentive, with quick service that added to the overall positive experience. They ensure you feel at home and are eager to make your dining experience pleasant.
Overall Experience: We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here and would absolutely recommend Gnanapoorani Mess to anyone looking for affordable, home-style food in a clean and welcoming environment. Great value for money, and every dish...
Read moreYes, I agree that the food and quality are very good. But I’m not new to hotels, and I’ve never seen anyone buy just Rasam or Sambar separately without getting the full meals. I got 2 Rasam, 2 Poriyal, and 1 Kootu for ₹200. One full meal costs ₹100, but if you buy the items separately, it’s ₹40 per packet (Sambar, Rasam, or Kootu).
So, if I buy one Kootu and one Sambar, it comes to ₹80 — that’s 80% of the cost of a full meal. That’s very disappointing. Please, if you plan to eat here, just get the full meals. Buying items separately is very expensive and...
