Visited with friends last evening, had 3 hours of good time. I don't drink alcohol and I don't eat non veg, so my review is focused on mocktails as well as veg dishes I had at the cycle gap. Of course I could take nice photos of various cocktails my friends ordered.
While my friends sipped I love you Rasna (a colourful drink made of Vodka, Bacardi, Rasna mix, orange juice & lime served in a designer glass with wooden holder), I got 'Old lady'- a pomegranate based mocktail served in similar designer glass and wooden holder. Shaktiman energy is the another alcoholic drink- paneer goli soda mixed (by the consumer) with tequila, vodka and rum. Milo ma is a another tasty drink to try, served on a larger circular glass. Boom boom boomer, Kadala Podu etc are some other unique alcoholic drinks to try. I was told the drinks are strong and not as diluted as in other bars. Later I ordered a spicy ocean-a ginger based mocktail.
On the starters we began with crispy corn, ananas (pinapple) paneer tikka, and vegetable pie-cheesy vegetable savory confined in a bowl covered with chapati/roti. It is fun watching steams come out as the chapati cover is opened.
We had two pizzas- a regular veg Margherita pizza and one with mexican flavors. I liked mexican better. Both were thin crust pizzas. Adyar gap bakes their own base for the pizza unlike other stores who source it from outside.
Before I forget, the molakai bajji (fried capsicum) here at Adyar gap is a different experience thanks to cheese infuse inside them.
The evening came to an end with good old curd rice, served with potato fry. Has two deserts-burfi cake and mithai skewers- vanila ice cream served with kadalekai mithai and honey candy.
Staff were accommodating to take care of some of our requests- to avoid egg and mushroom in some dishes.
Adyar Gap has nicely designed interiors with royal enfield motorcycle parts on display, nice and popular tamil quotes and dialogues written in English, a pool table, a DJ with retro English music etc. Adyar gap is a nice place to hang out with your friends. Most items are priced in INR 200-400 range, so per person expense could reach 1000-1500 rupees as you...
Read moreWe went there in the afternoon around 3.30pm we were 3 stags we were excited, when we came everything was chilled as time went on the service started becoming slower.Towards newer guests around we ordered another pitcher at the end but in the end after waiting for 30 mins we asked again for our order- cocktail pitcher but instead of giving us our order the supervisor to whom we requested our order again brought the bill, saying some lame reason saying your friend came in crocs which wasn't an issue when came in now, it was an issue all of a sudden ( I guess they wanted a reason for us to leave)..I paid the bill and complained to the manager about this the manager was also saying you put your negative review here as if he doesn't care. I had some hope for this franchise but I lost that also. This is what people will do to attract people especially ladies here. I fought for our dignity but in the end no result it was all futile no result. It's time these people have their license cancelled, the Bars should be known for their customer service but these they seem to be scamsters of some sort. We were pushed out at 8.15pm when the bill came in, which pissed off all of us. We were there till 9.00 pm trying our best with everybody they really don't care about us, the ambience was average as well please stop going here.
Conclusion : I would give less than 1 star if possible if you don't have the basic decency to ask if you can bring the bill or atleast inform if we need to leave. Spread it to your friends this is not a good option anymore. Go somewhere else if you want to have a good time. This is for the...
Read moreFood was amazing than expected. Quantity was also good.
Only problem was with the DJ, he went from melody to fast number, then jumped from Tamil to Hindi. There was no way to connect and set the mood.
They can have themes evenings, so people will know what to expect.
Updating my review on 29/May/2023
After a great time with my frends took my wife here. With 2 kids, it is not easy to pull my wife from her routine. But found ways to get her a night off and selected Cycle gap.
Why would the bouncers need the copy of the ID proof?
We were place at the far end as if we were welcomed but not welcomed.
We ordered 2 cocktail and 3 starters. It took 1.5 hours to get all of these.
The onion rings were too oily, it had upset both of us after which we were struggling with having everything else.
It took lot of time we decided to have dinner at home and not order anymore drinks or food.
We had visitors in the place we were seated. They had more than 2 legs, and were yucky to watch when having food. Yep cockroaches.
Positive
Chicken Katsu was good. Would have expected a Japanese style sauce and not the same sauce that came with the American beer battered onion rings.
Both our cocktail were good. No complaints.
Last two times I went on Sundays. May be the food and service was better on Sunday than the crowded Saturday night.
I may come back. But not...
