Hello All....
WHERE: Amaravathi ECR
This is just a heads up to all the lovely people, we were coming back to Chennai after visiting Mahaballipuram.
As we were in need of both Veg and Non Veg food we chose to have food in Amaravathi Restaurant in ECR which comes after Utandi, we were a bunch of 8.
Please dont think that am complaining after having a bad lunch...i request all you people to save yourself from having food there please....Avlo adultration panranga food la....this is just a money making business for them...
The kind of food which they served us was one of the most unhygienic one which we will ever have in the so called Speciality restaurant.....ill just run through the entire list of dishes which we had in this Restaurant...
Veg / Non Veg Meals:
1st up they have added excessive amount of Baking Soda in their rice due to which you cant have more rice....a restaurant of this quality shouldn't do this :-(
And then they served Ghee which is nothing but a Dalda which came in maaruvesham as a Ghee to our plates....i hope all of us know the effects of having Dalda into food. Only good thing about the Very meal was the sambar which tasted good. In Non veg meal all the curries were a total disaster.
Chicken kolambu nu soodu thanni la ennai yum kaara podi yum add panni kudutha maari irunthuchu and am not joking here...i really mean it...
Soup:
We ordered 2 Mutton bone soup initially which was given to us after almost 30 minutes and the taste of that soup is one of the worstest in the world...it was nothing but a pachai thanni with molaga podi and 1 half cooked mutton bone, so i was fed up and requested them to cancel this soup....
Vanjaram Fish:
They gave us a old fish which was not good and antha palaya meeenu ku 275 is very very jaaasthi, antha meena Samachu kuduthavangala eh atha saapda sonna kooda saapda mudiyaathu....it so very bad...
Prawn Masala and Andhra Chilli Chicken:
Although the Prawn was not cleaned properly but it tasted good and Andhra Chilli chicken was also very good...
Biriyani's:
Samaike theriyaathavanga biryani panna kooda athu konjam nalla irukumngaaa....Speciality Restaurant nu sollitu ivlo kevalamaa Biryani panrathu than namalaaala thanga mudiyaathu....

Gobi 65 and Jigarthanda was kind of okay.
And then on top of this 2 of us are now having Stomach upset now and i started to vomit in their restaurant itself after having that Baking Soda Rice....

Read moreIt has been raining cats and dogs and we decided to have dinner at Amaravathi today. My family and I were looking forward to eat good Andhra food. I must say that we were all disappointed! I've never taken so much time to write about a place. But today was just so disappointing that I had to share my thoughts. So here it goes...
The service was so poor inspite of having many staff. To start off with, the table was not cleaned and only after reminding them multiple times they came and cleaned the table. No water was served. I waited to see how long it took for them to realize we need glasses, plates and cutlery. After a long wait we called out to them to give us some Cutlery and glasses for water. And ofcourse to place the order it was another long wait. It kept going on like a batton relay. One person tells another person to take the order and finally nobody came. (This was the plight of most of the guests who visited the restaurant). Finally a waiter decided he will take the order. However, whatever we asked for was not available. This was exactly at 8:30 pm. And the waitrr was in such a hurry that given a chance he would have ordered the food for us as per his wish. It was quite funny and definitely brought down our appetite as he wouldn't even let us order properly. Anyways we managed to place an order.
We ordered amaravati's chicken pepper masala and chicken pulusu with dosa. Dosa was cold and both the gravy tasted the same and looked pretty much the same as well. Very very average! I've had better Andhra food. The gravy was so watery and had just 2 pieces of meat for a price of 300 rupees each. I would have rather bought chicken myself and made a better dish at home. One of the chutneys that came along with the dosa was in the verge of getting spoilt. I don't understand how this is served to guests. Many people probably wouldn't have even realised it as everyone was hungry.
The biriyani was mediocre and again was not hot. I've definitely had better Biriyani as well. While we wanted to place an order for jigardhanda we were just in a very inhospitable tone that it was not available. Within a minute the bill was given. While we were about to pay up and leave the table next to ours received jigardhanda. So out of curiosity I asked another waiter if it's available and he said yes. So clearly we had a waiter who just wanted to chase us out of the restaurant.
Would I come back again? No! This is definitely not the standard I seen growing up when I've eaten multiple times at this chain of restaurant.
Amaravathi = not...
Read morePicture this, dear readers: a dusty road, the echoes of temple bells fading into the rearview mirror, and an adventurer's hunger gnawing like a rabid mongoose. In this gastronomic quest, I stumbled upon the Amaravathi Restaurant on the East Coast Road, a culinary oasis promising the fiery delights of Andhra Pradesh.
Now, let me tell you, I'm no stranger to the culinary rollercoaster that is Andhra cuisine. The mere mention of spicy-hot sends shivers down my taste buds, and so, with the zeal of a chilli crusader, I waltzed into Amaravathi ready for a spicy symphony.
I decided to dive headfirst into the ocean of flavour with their traditional banana leaf meal—a spread that promised more drama than a Shakespearean tragedy. The ensemble cast included Dhal powder, Ghee (because why not add a dollop of joy?), Papad (the unsung hero of crunch), Vadam (for that pop sensation), Pickle (the James Bond of condiments), Sambar, Spicy gravy (because subtlety is overrated), Rasam (the elixir of life), Curd Gravy (to douse the spicy rebellion), Curd (the unsung hero's encore), Porial (because greens are essential for the illusion of health), Kutu (the sidekick) and Varuval (the pièce de résistance).
As the banana leaf unfolded, revealing this gastronomic theatre, I couldn't help but marvel at the sheer audacity of the feast laid before me. It was a sensory onslaught, a riot of colours, textures, and tastes—a veritable Andhra opera on my plate.
The first bite was a revelation, a firework display of spice that sent my taste buds on a rollercoaster ride. The Sambar, a robust symphony of lentils and spice, played the bass notes, while the Rasam added a tangy crescendo. The Varuval, a spicy diva in its own right, stole the spotlight with a performance that left my palate applauding in delight.
In conclusion, dear food enthusiasts, Amaravathi Restaurant is not just a pitstop for the hungry; it's a culinary adventure, a spicy escapade that will leave your taste buds singing in joy. So, if you're ready for a gastronomic fiesta that could rival the most dramatic soap operas, make your way to Amaravathi. Your taste buds will thank you, and your spice tolerance will forever bear the scars of this Andhra odyssey. Cheers to...
