Delhi Dhaba | Best North Indian Restaurant in ECR, Chennai — Restaurant in Zone 15 Sholinganallur

I visited this restaurant first in 2005. This used to be usual hangout place me and my friends. They are very good in north indian dishes. Ambience is good. And they have a lawn as well. And then I did not go there since I was out of country. On Aug 20, I planned my wife's baby shower there. One thing is I wanted pure vegetarian and customized menu consisting of three varieties of rice. I needed a 50 seater. I was also not sure how their quality was after seeing reviews, I was a bit doubtful But that was the only venue available for my dates and I booked it with advance. I asked the event co-ordinator couple of times and ensured food quality is good. Since many of my guests are elders, I was a bit tensed food needs to be of good quality and service should be good. BUT I NEED TO SAY THEY EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS :) First thing pallavi hall inside Delhi dhaba is neat and clean Location is on the ECR Road behind amaravathi restaurant, next to ISKCON Temple, people can reach easily. They have the board in the main road for everyone to locate easily. This facility is recently renovated, so it gives a very fresh look when you get in. Ample parking space and security guard Ample space inside delhi dhaba. They also have some good photo points and an excellent atmosphere portraying a dhaba style. Good restrooms. The Pallavi hall is airconditioned Enough chairs and tables. You can decide how you wanted to arrange it in groups or in rows We opted to have banana leaf and serving by staff. It came with a nominal rate, but worth it. You can be tension free. Very good servicing of food in a timely manner. The co-ordinator herself came with manager and ensured everything is going good. Courteous staff. They also helped to co-ordinate with a decoration person in the last minute for a nominal rate. FINALLY FOOD WAS GOOD. I myself notices the people repeatedly asked for coconut rice, rasam, sweet pongal, payasam and tamarind rice. Sweet pongal and payasam were very refreshing and a delight. They took me a nominal advance of Rs 2000 only and only after everything was over I paid them final amount. OVERALL GOOD FOR MY BUDGET, TIME DURATION AND EXCELLENT FOOD QUALITY. We reached in Delhi Dhaba Restaurant at 3:45 pm today on 19th September 2024. I came to celebrate someone's birthday with my family. My Mom was with me.

While taking the Order itself the Stewards informed us that they are going to close by 4:00 pm so we need to order Starter, Main Course and Desert everything at a time only as Kitchen is going to close now. We agreed. While ordering the food itself we said we will take time to finish our food as we want to enjoy the North Indian Food today. Stewards said that we can have our food and complete it whenever we want.

After serving us the Starters the Stewards switched off the Restaurant's all AC and Fans. We had to request them to at least switch on the Fan.

It has been seen through our our meal that none of the Stewards are happy that we came to have lunch out there. They just wanted us to finish our food and pay the bill and move out from there.

While we were having our food and not even finished 50% of our food, one of the Steward came and gave us the Bill to pay. It was just an insult for us and we really felt extremely bad with the Stewards behaviour and attitude. We regret that we thought of having our special lunch in Delhi Dhaba today.

The restaurant is running by the Worst Employees, worst management. Extremely pathetic experience. I will never ever recommend anyone to visit...

This restaurant has made it to one of my favorites in the ECR. Is a bit expensive but is totally worth it. I've personally visited and ate here more than 10 times and except for like 1-2 times, the experience was good. One the highlight dish I really like here is the cheese naan, which as it says is all cheese inside the naan and one single piece itself is quite big. The service is ok. Some servers have a hard time understanding what we say. Otherwise the food quality is really good and the restaurant itself is in some kind of retro theme. One can find it pretty appealing and nostalgic, with some old actor pictures and movie posters. The restrooms are maintained quite decent. The air conditioning of the restaurant is ok too. Parking is not an issue, it's adequate. Spotting this place might be an issue coz it only has an average size name board on the main road. Then it's the parking and after that it's a good looking pathway that leads to the restaurant. Overall I like this restaurant and will come...
