Exclusivity has its privileges, I'm talking about the parking and the entry way of the recently opened and trending Monkeybar of course. Situated on the 3rd floor of VR Mall, this separate entrance is heaven sent because it avoids the crowds thronging the Mall especially on weekends. It's done up in an eclectic way with seating for both intimate small and big groups. Prominent among these are the mascot's pictures- Monkey in different avatars. The Drinks and the Food menu is short and sweet, with a range of Cocktails which are unique to them and not found in any other Bar in Chennai. I tried the Copper Monkey, which is Whiskey, Orange Juice, Passion Fruit, Mint and Bitters, served in a copper Glass. It was quite smooth. My companion chose the Hipster Smash- which is Vodka, Cucumber-elderflower Spritz, garnished with a watermelon ice cube with mint. A truly refreshing drink. By way of starters I tried the Mobarribs- Barbequed spare ribs which were so tender and fall of the bone, served with a spicy sticky sauce. It was fingerlicking good.Butterfly Chicken- Spicy minced chicken tossed in black bean sauce and stuffed in butterfly shaped shells. They were pretty to look at and awesome to taste.Baked Crab- Sweet Crab meat baked in its own shell, served with a sauce. For the main course we went with a Aunt Vinnie's Berry Pulao- Chicken Kebab, shredded chicken and Iranian berry pulao with saffron, fried onions and potato salli. The pulao was topped with kofta balls and when paired with the gravy provided an awesome mouthfeel with the sweetness of the berries, crunch of the fried onions and the softness of the kofta.Chandraji's Mutton Curry- Mutton cooked with khada masala, dahi and makhna, served with gobindobhog rice. It was like homestyle preparation and extremely satisfying. Both the main courses are dishes that you would not find in any Pub menu but were so tasty that we thoroughly enjoyed them. This is what sets Monkeybar's menu apart from others. Finally we couldn't resist  trying the Nutella and Old Monk cake which was such a decadent and utterly satisfying end to the meal. The service was so good in spite of the place being packed. I would love to go again. I would finish by saying Thala's famous words " IAM IMPRESSED".

Visited this bar after hearing positive feedback from my close circle. Once I entered the bar I was taken aback by the unique wall papers and the lighting which brought a good mood to the place. They have 2 seperate menus one for the food and another for the drinks and we had a huge variety to choose from. For starters we ordered the Curry Leaves and Pepper Chicken, Butterfly Chicken which is their signature dish and Pepper Calamari. Coming to the Curry Leaves and Pepper Chicken it had good chunks of chicken which were cooked really well and served with molee sauce. My favourite dish was the Butterfly Chicken which came in the shape of a butterfly which was stuffed with yummy flavourful chicken and there was a good contrast to the chicken with the crispiness of the batter on which it was served with. For drinks we ordered their signature drink which is the Copper Monkey and Saat Rasta. Both the drinks were good and the Copper Monkey had Whiskey,Orange Juice,Passion Fruit and Bitters which was very unique and a must try drink. For the main course we ordered the Chandrajis Mutton Curry and Chicken Mee Goreng. The Chandrajis Mutton Curry was served along with a bowl of rice and dried onion which is supposed to be mixed along with the rice and gravy and to be had. It tasted absolutely delicious and the flavour which came when I had along with the dried onions was very good. This is a dish that I would definitely recommend everyone to try. To finish this yummy dinner we ordered the Nutella and Old Monk Cake. One word to describe it would be very tough but I would use awesome to it. This cake has all the favourites one can ask for the yummy Nutella and the Old Monk Rum which combined really well. Overall I would definitely recommend everyone who are looking for a different food experience to this bar.

I wouldn't call it a very well known chain. It is fairly known and has outlets in multiple cities. It is a welcome addition in Chennai and that too in Anna Nagar. Good to have options spread across the city. It shouldn't be that only heart of the city has the monopoly :) It is located within VR Mall, Anna Nagar. We had a bit of challenge locating the place. Not so prominent and neither do have big displays when you spot it from the inside. As I could understand, it is located within a club club and there are other restaurants as well. Like most of the time, my driver was the Zomato carnival offer to try the place. We were a bunch of 7 folks and I can say it was worth it. We had a very good waiter - Balram. We didn't have to wait most of the time. They had a good selection of drinks, food and cocktails / mocktails. I loved the small see through room where they had kept the bottles. Place is well spaced out. Décor is more or less in line with their other outlets. Of course, they have brought in local touch on the murals. Tastefully done as well. Different zones with different seating and lighting options are available. You will get a comfortable option. I personally loved the mocktails. They were repeat worth. The starters were brilliant especially the Tiger beef. We loved it so much that we ordered them thrice :D Other highlights were the mushroom bruschetta. Rest were okay, not that wow. DJ was playing songs across genres. I didn't appreciate that at all.

Monkey Bar Chennai - A Disappointing Culinary Circus

Entering Monkey Bar in Chennai, one might expect a playful and lively experience, but what unfolds is a culinary catastrophe that leaves a bitter taste in more ways than one.

Let's start with the price tag that accompanies each dish. Monkey Bar seems to have mistaken itself for a Michelin-starred establishment, with prices that would make even the most seasoned foodies clutch their wallets in horror. The exorbitant costs attached to the dishes are as unjustified as they are outrageous, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a financial assault than a dining experience.

Upon receiving the menu, one can't help but notice the microscopic portions masquerading as full-fledged meals. It's as if the chef is playing a cruel joke on the patrons, presenting them with dishes that would leave a hummingbird hungry. The menu might as well be titled "The Hunger Games" because, after a meal here, you'll likely find yourself scavenging for sustenance elsewhere.

To add insult to financial injury, the service at Monkey Bar is nothing short of a circus act gone wrong. The staff seems to be performing a disappearing act, leaving diners stranded at their tables for an eternity before deigning to take an order. The delayed food service turns what should be a leisurely dining experience into an agonizing wait, testing the patience of even the most composed diners.

When the food finally does arrive, the anticipation quickly turns to disappointment. The small portions are laughable, and the flavors are a cacophony of confusion. It's as if the chef decided to experiment with a blindfold, throwing together random ingredients in the hope that something edible would emerge.

In conclusion, Monkey Bar in Chennai is a prime example of how high prices, minuscule portions, and poor service can combine to create a dining experience that leaves patrons feeling robbed and unsatisfied. Save your taste buds and your wallet – there are plenty of other establishments in Chennai that offer a far more enjoyable and reasonable...

Title: A Delicious Delight of Drink and Food

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Monkey bar, and I must say it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable evening.

The first thing that struck me was the impressive selection of drinks. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast, a beer connoisseur, or a wine lover, this place has something for everyone. The bartenders are true artists, crafting cocktails with precision and flair. I highly recommend trying their signature drinks – it was a delightful blend of flavors that left me wanting more.

Now, let's talk about the food – it was simply outstanding. The menu is with variety of options to suit all tastes. I started with the nuggets, which was a perfect combination of crispy and savory. and it exceeded my expectations. The flavors were so rich and well-balanced that I couldn't help but savor every bite. The presentation of each dish was also impeccable, adding to the overall dining experience.

What truly sets monkey apart, besides the great food and drinks, is the ambiance. The dimly lit, cozy interior creates an intimate setting that's perfect for a date night or a gathering with friends. The music selection added to the ambiance, setting the mood just right without being too loud or intrusive.

I want to specially mention PR Manisha as her service was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make recommendations. She went above and beyond to ensure that my evening was enjoyable, and I truly appreciated her dedication to customer satisfaction.

In conclusion, my visit to monkey bar was a delightful experience from start to finish. The combination of exquisite food, top-notch drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere make this place a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable night out. I will undoubtedly be returning soon to explore more of their menu and indulge in their fantastic hospitality. Cheers to Monkey bar for setting the...
