Brewed to Perfection: A Cozy Culinary Experience at DOU, Nungambakkam ☕✨

Our recent visit to DOU in Nungambakkam was nothing short of a memorable culinary escape. Right from the entrance, we were welcomed into a space that feels like a warm hug—a perfect blend of rustic brewhouse aesthetics and cozy, laid-back charm. The ambiance instantly puts you at ease, with the comforting aroma of coffee lingering in the air.

The hospitality at DOU is truly unmatched. We were greeted with a charming smile and warm welcome from Nancy, whose genuine kindness made us feel instantly at home. Adding to this warmth was Anandhakrishnan, who extended such gracious hospitality throughout our time there—his calm demeanor and thoughtful gestures didn’t go unnoticed and made our visit feel special.

Behind the scenes (and quite efficiently at our table), Sham and Rahul ensured our service was nothing short of perfect. Their attentiveness, menu recommendations, and impeccable timing made the entire experience seamless and delightful.

We started with a "Hot Chocolate paired with an Almond Crossian"t a comforting and indulgent beginning. The richness of the hot chocolate was beautifully complemented by the nutty crunch of the croszi. Alongside, we had an "Iced Spanish Latte" that was smooth, balanced, and refreshing perfectly brewed for caffeine lovers.

Next up were the mains: “When Basil Met Tomato”a delightful, herbaceous dish that brought out fresh, earthy flavors with every bite. The "Empire Roast Chicken Wings" followed, and they stole the show—succulent, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection. Absolutely finger-licking good!

We rounded off our meal with the DoU Caffeine Gelato. Creamy, intense, and satisfyingly cold—it was the ideal dessert for a coffee-infused finish.

But more than just the food and coffee, what stood out was the team. From Nancy’s inviting smile to Anandhakrishnan’s heartfelt hospitality, and the efficient service from Sham and Rahul, every detail felt cared for.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Let me preface by saying this place was empty. There were 3x more employees than customers. We waited 10 minutes just for an employee to come take our order.

We asked for two glasses of regular water, after ordering our coffee and pastries. Spoiler Alert: Don’t trust a place that doesn’t have clean water.

The employees filled our two glasses of cold regular water and then two of them proceeded to go to town with it with a bar spoon. They were fishing out the ice, examining it and throwing them out. When I asked him why did he did that, he told us there was some dirt and proceeded to give us the glass!!!

I was visibly furious. When we tried to get his attention he ignored us, most of the other employees were on their phones. We stood up and obviously walked out. He came up to us before I walked out and agreed they did that, but was super defensive like he didn’t do anything wrong. For the team reading this - it was sometime between 6:08 - 6:12 pm, 21st June. There is a cctv which hopefully recorded this. We were sitting at the place near the coffee counter beside the pastry display. Check your damn staffs attitude and hygiene levels. This is unacceptable. This if disgusting. No amount of name changing will help.

recently visited this café and had such a wonderful experience. The breakfast tower, pizza,croissant and iced coffee, and everything exceeded expectations.

The breakfast tower was beautifully presented and came with a lovely variety – crispy hash browns, perfectly cooked eggs, fresh bread, beans, mushrooms, grilled veggies, and a balance of both savory and sweet sides like jam and compote. It was fun to mix and match different flavors, and every bite felt fresh and satisfying.

The pizza was another highlight – baked just right with a thin, crisp base, generous toppings, and lots of flavor without being too heavy. Definitely something I would order again.

To go with it, the iced coffee was excellent – smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet, which made it the perfect drink to complement such a filling meal.

The café itself has a very cozy and relaxed vibe with comfortable seating and a warm atmosphere – ideal for a slow breakfast or brunch with friends.

A special mention to Sanju, who took great care of us. The service was prompt, polite, and very attentive, which made the overall experience even better.
