7islands Bakery and Cafe — Restaurant in Bali

I come here sometimes to buy bread, croissants or desserts. The food is usually good, when it’s fresh. And that’s the point. The last time I came in it was 8:45 in the morning. There were not “anymore” much croissants and some of the pasteries were looking a bit “old”; so I asked the waiter if the items were fresh of the same day or from the day before. She answered me without hesitation that they were fresh of the day. I bought them but they turned out to be at least 24h old, old butter is tasting bad, and the bread was like chewing gum. The waiter lied to me. For whatever reason she felt entitled to lie to me even if she probably knows I’m a recurrent customer because she saw me there many times. This attitude is unacceptable. Everyone who comes from Europe knows what a fresh croissant is and what an old one tastes like, those were definitely not fresh. Dear L. from the team. Welcoming your customers and serving them good products should be a pleasure for you, it’s your job, a little smile and a “thank you” would be nice - and you know what? the customer will come back and/or leave a good review. Lying to your customers is the worst thing you can do, and the manager and the owner of this place should not tolerate this. Ah and please, remember that it’s illegal not giving the recipe to the customer! I ALWAYS have to ask for it, always. If I don’t they just don’t give it and btw round up always the bill in their favor...so maybe the next time I better look for my breakfast somewhere else, where at least people don’t lie to me and serve me the food I expect...

I decide to give this place a try, because I've been seeing this place for so long, but i dont know what experience they have.. so i get curious and give it a go.

The place is visible if you passing by the street, with a nice spacious parking for bike across the venue. The place has quite a nice and warm vibe with lush greens on the outer part, wonderful sets of seatings and visible big service counter.

The staff was very friendly, wonderful and helpful, they can recommend you with some reference, so dont be shy to ask.

They have quite selection of menus from salad, eggs to sandwiches.. even though i was expecting an american breakfast style.. but its okay for me. They also have lots of cake selections and aome daily promos.

I ordered eggs benedict and a long black.. it didnt take long to get to me. The coffee feels like italian coffee, its bold, bitter and pretty much it... It has good consistency and i think its good if you're looking for something that taste strong. The eggs was almost feel over poached, when i cut it half, the yolk didnt have that much runniness left and the portion is quite good with some slices of bacon. The english muffin was felt a bit like biscuit, because it was crispy to the inside, maybe its how they do it. The taste was quite nice, but still feel they could add some more savoury and sweet in it.

The price was quite general in canggu, overall the place is nice, but i hope they keep improving and providing with good quality...

Well, they say ‘honesty is the best policy’… so here’s my honest review. ✨

Maybe for the regulars, the locals, this place is great—kind of ‘California in the ‘60s.’ Everyone knows each other, the owner, the staff, knows them. One big happy family… that’s cool. For me though it wasn’t a good experience.

Two main issues: the food quality and the smokers.

The food was disappointing, especially the baked part. I ordered Eggs Benedict, the bread was so bad, dry and stale, I ended up scraping the eggs off of it. The rest of the dish was pretty tasteless. 🥲

The croissant? That was one of the worst croissant I’ve had—dry and doughy, missing that light, buttery flakiness you’d expect. And this place is a bakery. 🤷‍♂️

The coffee was okay. ☕️

The worst part, though, was the smoking.

I sat outside, it was too hot inside without the breeze. After a little while, a guy sat next to me, generously sharing his smoke with me through that breeze. Ok, I moved… only to have two others light up behind me. Double dose of generosity this time. 🙃

I appreciate the sharing and the communal vibe here, but hasn’t the word about smoking’s harm reached the islands? As for food from a bakery. I expected much more from it.

I took a little drive to get to this place given the reviews here i can’t recommend you...
