Barō Bakery — Restaurant in Bali

We visited this place for an iced coffee and also tried one of the pastries, the sourdough cardamom roll which tasted very nice. I like the decor of the place, very minimalist and there are plenty of seats both inside with aircon and also in front of the place. The coffee tasted good although it has quite a strong taste which might not be everyone’s cup of coffee (see what I did there?😂) Personally, I like the strong flavour so I was happy about it. The service was nice and fast, the prices are okay, it’s a bit expensive but sadly this is to be expected in Canggu which is a pretty overpriced area of Bali. The benches could use some pillows as it can get a bit uncomfortable overtime. Also, it’s hard to figure out which pastry is what as they have the names written in the glass so it’s not easy to identify - maybe have like little cards showing the names would be a good idea. Also, the place where they showcase the pastries is open so I’ve seen some flies sitting on the them which didn’t look very sanitary. Maybe have that glass space sealed with a door would be a good idea. Also, I wish they used metal/bamboo/glass straws instead of the compostable ones. Compostable straws won't compost unless you place them in a compost, and in a lot of cases they will need to be industrially composted so it practically acts as plastic. heard this bakery from a friend of mine and finally I got the chance to go here for a Saturday breakfast!

I ordered : sausage roll it's crunchy, good ratio of meat and pastry but I think the tray is a bit too big for the size of the pastry and other condiments

savoury ancient grains porridge i love it! it's pretty straight forward and what a way to start a day!

bread It was hard for me to decide which bread to order cause everything looks so good!

I ended up order the ancient grains sourdough and the sweet potato brioche. oh my... both breads did not disappoint!

I'll come back here next time, definitely for the breads 😋

Every time I ordered coffee at home, I received a glass covered with plastic film under the lid. Today at the cafe I told the manager about this - he said that they do not use plastic, they have never done this with a takeaway glass. and the whole team stood and was silent, although they do this every time and in their cooking they have something to cover the glass with film. they were silent and did not admit that they do this all the time as the weakest people (I categorically do not recommend this place. The manager does not know how takeaway coffee is packaged, but at the same time he tried to make a fool out of me, and showed aggression. I wish him that karma does not...
