I’ve been to Batik pre-pandemic days. Today was my second visit in about three weeks or so. I’m not sure if the staff were tired after the weekend or something. When I wanted to order, I had to look through the dividers to get someone’s attention. The waitress who took my order was in a rush. She thought I only was going to order a starter and was going to walk away. I had to say: “Can you please write?” When I noticed that she didn’t note down the starter order on the notepad she was holding. Then I ordered my main dish. No one came to clear my starter plates until a staff member came to bring a spoon for my curry and I asked him to clear the table. When I wanted to request the bill, there was no one around from the wait staff, so I asked one of the bartenders. When I asked for his attention, he looked at me in an expression that says: “What do you want?” But in a rude way. As if I was disturbing him and I wasn’t allowed to ask him for anything. Note: I sat inside and there was only another table (group of three who ordered drinks only) and a couple who came at a later time. It’s a shame because the food is great but I’m not sure it’s worth feeling disrespected after paying 400k and dining solo. Maybe they assume everyone is a tourist and won’t be returning. Well, I’m in Bali for six months this time but I don’t think I’ll be back. I just thought my review would be useful...

They asked us to quickly order drinks at 1354 saying happy hour starts at 1400. We specifically asked if mocktails are included, she said yes. We ordered mocktails and 1 cocktail. After the bill came she charged us for every drink saying mock tails not included and for cocktail too as we did not order the free one. She stayed quiet all long not informing us also that our free cocktail is due.
She did the same to the food order too. We asked how big is a portion of green curry. She said it’s for 1 person and showed a small bowl in hand. So we ordered accordingly 4 bowls of curry and to our surprise the portions were massive, good for 3-4 people. On asking her she insisted that this is what she considers 1 person’s portion to be.
We used to loved the place, but not anymore. The worst was the attitude, when we told her of the issues, she loudly said this is what we order and flatly denied that mocktails were ever included. Final straw was when I told her politely that we have no option but to share this experience on Google review. She gave the biggest smile of the day and said “sure, sure go ahead”. I have not come across a restaurant so indifferent, rude and...
Read moreI came across this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a try – and it exceeded expectations! Every dish was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended, and the prices are very reasonable. The place has a pleasant atmosphere, and the ambiance is great. Even the restrooms are spotless. The staff is friendly and polite.
The only minor drawbacks were the wait for the main courses, though the starters came out quickly, and once the food arrived, there were a lot of flies around. But I guess that’s to be expected in Bali.
The hummus is an excellent starter, and the pasta was tasty. The baramundi fish with gravy was superb (a personal favourite recommended by the waitress). The steak was also good, but I’d suggest ordering the beef salad instead of the “Crying Tiger” steak – they’re quite similar, and the salad is more affordable.
For dessert, the apple crumble was delicious without being overly sweet, and the crème brûlée was also very good.
Though the restaurant isn’t halal certified, I personally inquired and was told that all their meat is halal-certified. The lack of certification is likely due to the alcohol on the menu, but rest assured, all the meat...
