After reading so many flattering reviews my husband and I decided to go check this place out. It started well, we’ve made a reservation a couple days prior to our visit and I would recommend to do so as the place was really busy at 7 o clock when we arrived. We’ve opted out for a set 5 course menu called the Bucket list, as the dishes all together seemed to be great and what we would go for any way. The service started very well and our drinks and first couple of dishes arrived quite quickly. All went ok till I got to the steamed bun spicy pork hot dog. The dish looked beautiful and well presented how ever instead of meat 85% of my “hot dog” turned out to be pork fat. Obviously I didn’t eat it. My husbands hot dog was much better, but it means you have a 50/50 chance of enjoying your dish or not. When pointed it out to the waitress she didn’t seem to be bothered at all and kind of dismissed the issue saying that’s a normal thing.... I didn’t want to creat an argument thinking there is more to come so we just waited for other dishes. The soft shell watermelon salad was below average and nothing to mention really. Followed by roasted duck pancakes ( duck was nicely cooked and tasty, but they really should add more to the vegetables amount accompanied with it). As we were somewhere in the middle of our meal the service got much slower and slower. Even though we said from the start we didn’t really want to have big breaks between dishes as the portions were on a small side. The last before the desert arrived was chicken satay which to be honest didn’t have much of a flavor and was rather disappointing. For desert we had a creme brûlée trio to share between us which was one of the best dishes we’ve tried that night. Over all I personally left the restaurant feeling disappointed and still hungry. Apart from starters and desert which were truly good but small I wouldn’t recommend anything on the menu. This is our 3-rd time in Bali and I can definitely say if you care more about food rather than ambience opt out for something else. Bali has much better...
Read morePhotographing food is not my speciality and when the food in front of you is radiating an aroma you can't resist, you lust for the first bite. I can't express how much I enjoyed the drinks, the appetizers and the mains through these images but I can tell you it was delightful. The dim sum / appetizers were excellent in every respect. The crumbed barramundi buns had an amazing crunch, isn't spicy but had a lovely balance of subtle flavors from the accompanying julienned veggies. Fried pork wontons were ok. Prawn dumplings and the Shanghai pork dumplings are must dos however they are medium spicy. The Babi Guling buns made of roasted pork are quite good and have a delayed spice kick. Since we had some seconds from the appetizers, we opted for two mains only. These were the chef's signature dishes and are labeled on the menu with the chef hat symbol. Please don't miss the Nasi Goreng pork ribs (accompanied by prawn crackers that actually taste like dried prawn - amazing) and the mother-in-law's Chicken curry (fiery but succulent chunks of white meat). The latter was better with steamed rice for me. Lastly, we tried the weekly special drinks and of all the cocktail orders in Bali over 2 weeks, this was the first instance where it was the correct combo of amazing flavors and alcohol content for a reasonable price; whisky sour with strawberry rosemary (brilliant drink) for me and the Mango Basil gin cocktail for her highness. Friendly staff, lovely ambience and most importantly, it's very busy so book your table in advance. From my little family of 5, here's a salute to you Ginger Moon 🙏🏽 for the...
Read moreGinger Moon Canteen in Seminyak is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cosy, inviting atmosphere. The decor is chic yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal.
The menu is incredibly diverse, offering a creative blend of traditional Indonesian flavours with a modern twist. We started with the crispy duck pancakes, and they were divine—crispy yet tender, served with a flavorful hoisin sauce. For the main course, I had the Nasi Goreng, which was hands down the best I've ever had. My partner opted for the slow-cooked pork belly, which was succulent and packed with flavour.
The cocktails are also worth mentioning. We tried the Ginger Moon Signature cocktail, which was both refreshing and perfectly balanced. It's clear that a lot of thought and craftsmanship goes into each drink.
Service was impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and they were more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and offer recommendations.
Prices are reasonable given the high quality of both food and service. Portions are generous, ensuring you leave the restaurant fully satisfied.
Overall, Ginger Moon Canteen offers an exceptional dining experience that beautifully captures the essence of Bali. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this place is a must-try. Highly...
