My friends and I were incredibly disappointed with our recent visit to Beetroot in Canggu. One of us even traveled from another city, excited to try their “all-you-can-eat” meat experience, but it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had.
First off, we were the only guests for at least an hour until one other group showed up. Despite the lack of customers, the service was appallingly slow and unprofessional. The concept of “all-you-can-eat” was misleading. The portions were tiny — the meat was pre-cut into absurdly small, inconsistent pieces, and the selection was minimal. Of the few options available, we liked the lamb and wagyu, so we decided to order refills of those.
The first plate was fine, but the portions were so small that we finished it quickly and requested more. That’s when everything fell apart. Refills took over 15 minutes to arrive, and when they did, the cuts were wrong, poorly cooked, and in bizarre shapes. We asked for medium to medium-rare, but what came out was overcooked and dry. Worse still, the seasoning kept changing. Initially, it was just salt and pepper, which was great. But each refill brought a new, unpleasant twist: strange herbs, unidentifiable flavors, and, by the last refill, a dark orange liquid with a seasoning that tasted like overly spiced Indian food — and the meat was still overcooked. At that point, we gave up and returned the plate.
Adding to the nightmare was the fly infestation. Blue flies were constantly landing on our food, drinks, and utensils. When I asked for a replacement drink after a fly landed in it, the server begrudgingly replaced it but with an attitude, insisting the flies weren’t there when it was served. We tried lighting candles to deter them, but it didn’t help. It was unhygienic and disgusting.
As if things weren’t bad enough, the Instagram promotion for drinks was another headache. Their flyer clearly stated that the promotional cocktails were available from 4–6 PM, but the server told us they wouldn’t honor it until 10 PM. After some back and forth with the manager, they finally agreed, but the entire process felt unwelcoming.
We left feeling humiliated and upset. The all-you-can-eat deal, priced at 299k/person (excluding drinks and tax), felt like a scam. We were served what seemed like leftover scraps of meat, with subpar preparation and service. As locals, we couldn’t help but feel that the staff’s attitude toward us was cold and dismissive.
This was supposed to be a fun evening, but instead, it was a complete disaster. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend...

Read moreDuring our recent visit to the establishment, we partook in their all-you-can-eat menu, priced at IDR199k. The initial serving accurately reflected the items listed on the AYCE brochure. Customers are given the option to select a side of rice, flatbread, or potato. Subsequent orders can be made without restriction. The meat is accompanied by two sauces: a barbecue sauce and an unspecified sweet sauce. The prawn wonton, served with black pepper ponzu sauce, was of satisfactory quality. The butter rice exhibited a noticeable butter flavor, and the salad was fresh, complete with dressing. However, the meat was served in small portions, resulting in a somewhat protracted interval between rounds. Additionally, expanding the menu options would be a commendable improvement. The absence of an air-conditioned dining area presents a discomforting factor, particularly given Bali's warm climate, which detracts from the overall...
