There’s something about Fold that makes you want to come back before you’ve even left. The first time I went, I ordered their English Breakfast paired with an Iced Matcha Latte (and now I understand why so many people rave about their matcha). It’s rich, earthy, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced with the milk, making it such a comforting drink to start the day with.
I came back another time to try their Cold Brew, and it totally lived up to the hype — perfectly balanced with a bold, clean flavor that’s neither too acidic nor bitter. Served chilled with just the right strength, it gave me that satisfying caffeine hit without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of coffee that feels refreshing in Bali’s tropical climate — smooth enough to sip slowly, yet energizing enough to kickstart a productive day!
But what truly stole my heart? The pastries!
I started with their Canelé, and let me tell you — it was love at first bite. Caramelized on the outside, tender and custardy on the inside — absolutely addictive. Their Swiss Danish is another flaky, buttery delight, but the Frangipane Croissant? That one is next level. It’s beautifully layered and dusted with just the right touch of sweetness. A true standout and definitely my top pick.
One of the quirkiest things I love about Fold is their fresh juices with fun, pun-filled names like The Beetles, John Lemon, Orange Floyd, My-kale Jackson, and Mariah Carrot. It’s a fun little detail that shows how much personality this place packs into everything they do.
Fair warning, though — their pastries sell out fast! If you want to grab your favorites, I recommend coming earlier in the day before they’re gone.
Beyond the delicious food and drinks, Fold offers an inviting ambiance that makes you want to linger. The interior is bright and thoughtfully designed (a blend of modern minimalism and cozy charm) making it ideal whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet morning alone with a book. The staff elevate the experience even further: they’re quick to clear tables, attentive to every detail, and make sure every guest feels both comfortable and cared for. It’s that kind of consistency and hospitality that turns a good café into a favorite one.
Fold is the kind of place that turns a regular morning into something special — where every detail, from the coffee to the service, leaves you feeling cared for. It’s more than a café; it’s a little slice of Bali you’ll want to return to...
Read moreFirst of all, this is not a complaint but friendly feedback of an overall review of my experience here.
Came here for breakfast and who doesn’t love a good French bakery? I ordered Chocolatine and have a full understanding that Chocolatine and Pain au chocolat are just different names according to which part of France but it's both the same. I ordered Chocolatine referring to the Frangipane Chocolatine, the cashier corrected me and said ‘Pain au chocolat’ I said okay coz I don’t know they have that menu. They bring my order a regular ‘Pain au chocolat’. I said I didn’t order this and then they changed it to what I initially thought I have ordered.
I also ordered Œuf Mouiliette which is soft-boiled egg, brioche, truffle butter and smoked salmon. I feel like it could have been done faster than 35 minutes because it's a simple menu (it’s just a soft-boiled egg). There were two eggs. one is perfect the other one is cold. When it comes to a soft-boiled egg, I want my Eggs at least warm not cold.
Lastly, the waiters don't know what brand of Tea they are using. But Glad that she is very helpful and show me that they are using a local brand - Tekotea. She is also asking us hows the food was. I understand this is the standard service but still, it’s a nice gesture from her. Thank you for asking us.
I want to give this visit a 3 stars review because of the above issues. I give it 4 stars because I believe there is always room for improvement and knowing that they are still newly operated. And the food is good the pastry is amazing. And the place is the coolest!
I do want to leave a message for the service team. Hospitality means you have to level with your customer not be ‘Know - it - all’, confused the customer and messed up the order. There is so many pastry/bakery shop in the Canggu area. If you can’t differentiate yourself with a good service, people will think twice to come...
Read moreI was going to take one star off because I’m not a fan of the atmosphere. The AC was not working properly so it was way too hot upstairs and it was also very loud between the music and the construction next door, but the food was so good that I have to give this place 5 stars. It would just be so much better if it was cooler, and quieter inside, and that taxes were already included in the price, because nothing makes me feel more like a tourist than having to pay taxes like in the US when we’re not in the US…
But yeah, the food was divine. Having been away from France for 8 months now, I don’t remember when I had such an amazing hot chocolate and pain au chocolates. This is a combo made in heaven. The pain au chocolat was flaky buttery (but not too much) field with a nice amount of chocolate, and the hot chocolate was very chocolaty, rich, and creamy, just how I like them. The size was good too. So my conclusion is that the chocolate they use in this place makes it all.
Thank you for the happy chocolaty experience! If I had time I definitely would have come back to try more things on the menu. Just fix the tiny issues I mentioned earlier and it will...
