Came to this place which was recommended to us by a lovely women walking her dogs on the ridge trail. Didn't know what to expect but when we got there we were greeted by two rather annoying dogs who we're rather loud in their barking so not the best first impression. Also the staff was really laid back and seem unbothered which in retrospect a great sign that we were in the presence of excellent karma, but we didn't know at that time. I think we may have left had we more choices but we were too hungry and the recommendation was so promising that we ordered a beer and waited for the rest of our party.
When the group was complete we put the French guy in charge of ordering, and order he did. Three were 5 of us and he ordered .... 11 plates and a bottle if wine. When the dishes started rolling out it was pure delight. I didn't know indonesian food could be do Devine.... it was just so perfect and I eat to a point where I was approaching overeating but it felt balanced. The taste was there but I've have tasty food jn many places, it was the way everything was clean taste and nothing overpowered and each dish had a base note and a top note that complimented the other dishes.
I won't get into all the dishes but it was amazing. Best if all the bill cane to less than 1.1 million rupiah. It felt like a bargain considering it was hands down the best indonesians food I've ever had..... I've been in Indonesia 18 months and have traveled to java to raja ampat and visited as many places as possible during these trying times.
So I conclude in gratitude. thank you...
Read moreWe stay in nearby hotel and found this place by chance. When we first arrived at the restaurant and saw the menu we really didn't know what to expect. BUT, when the appertisers arrive, we were blown away by the beauty of the plating. We can see from the dishes that the chef puts his heart and soul onto the plates. And the taste, O.M.G. they taste as good as it looks. If not, better. We had Dumpling and Kemulan Tacos for appertiser. The dumplings sit on a gravy and they complement each other beautifully. The vegan Tacos is fresh and delicious. I never knew that I would enjoy a vegan Tacos! (I am not vegan btw). Then comes the main dish, Tempe Red Bean Rendang (vegan) for my partner, and Bebek Mesanten (non vegan) for me. The accompanying rice plate comes with condiments of sambal and vegetables. They are all so beautiful on the eyes and tasty on the palate. It's heaven. I am so glad that we decided to come and dine in there. We will definitely come back again and we already recomended it to few Vegan friends (we live in Bali). I also love the fact that they have 2 menus, Vegan and Non Vegan and so everyone is welcomed. Good ambience, great good, great value. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Super duper highly recommended!

Read moreThis place should be on your list of places to visit if you are vegan/vegetarian and you want to try indonesian food. There are very few places on Bali that offer such an extensive choice of vegan indonesian food. The dish I ordered was very delicious. The place is small but cozy. The stuff is very friendly. The owner talked to every table while we were eating there. He told us that the place opened recently and the idea was to bring indonesian food for those who dont eat meat because there are not a lot of places like Kemulan. The only thing I would improve is the bathroom. It would be a good idea to put a sign where the bathroom is because at some point you have to go past the kitchen and it is confusing. I found the bathroom, however, it was dark so I barely saw anything and I was not able to fine the light switch. But this is a very small thing to improve, and if it is done, then this place would be just perfect. This restaurant should also be added to...
