Our experience in Mesari has been beyond expectation. It has been our go go breakfast, lunch and dinner during our 2 weeks stay in Ubud. It located in the middle of Penestanan village, only accessible by motorbike. It looks like just a small cafeteria with many arts & antiques from the outside. It faces a beautiful rice field, and offers volcano views on the second floor. Foods are all home made, freshly made by order, thats why it is acceptably takes some time to wait until your order is served. Price is so cheap for what you get. I guess cheapest in Bali. We love their brownies, Tuna steak, tuna pepes, pizza, nasi campur, soup, and breakfast and all foods there we tried. Books lovers, they have small library with fair collections of books. Place is very nice, homey, they have many tables, sofa and even beautiful garden with artificial river full of healthy koi! Their wifi connection always very fast too. Staffs & owner are very nice. They are genuinely very friendly. I miss the girl who always smile, and gives us so much positive energy. She always happy and energetic, we feel bad when we suddenly left Ubud without even say Bye to them...

I like everything at Mesari except for the food, which is what a restaurant is for. Yes they got super friendly staff, good (Western) music, nice setting, quiet rice fields, but NO, the food was NOT GOOD. I had the vegetarian nasi campur, I must say this is the worst nasi campur I've ever had in Bali and I've been here for two months. The green beans are tasteless, the tofu satay is a disaster, the tempeh is a 5 out of 10, even the rice is not well cooked. I was so traumatized by this dish that I had to go to TJ's to get a nasi goreng dish.
Super disappointed given all the good reviews here. Folks, go to Abe-Do, Babu's warung, TJ's warung, Prima, Sawobali, seriously there are so many tastier options, plus they are cheaper! The best nasi campur is at warung makanan tegas in mas village, it's so local so that you have to speak bahasa. Tje best tempeh is at Abe-Do, the best vegan buffet is at sawobali. For real folks, go eat somewhere...

We went there twice. On our first visit we ordered the spring rolls and fried corn (fritters) to start and both were excellent. For the main course my husband had the tuna and I had the chicken. Both were very flavourful. On our second visit he tried the chicken in mushroom sauce and I had the club sandwich. We also tried the carrot cake for dessert which was delicious.
The service was very good and we didn’t wait long at all for our food. I recommended the restaurant to others in the hotel we were staying at down the road and all of them returned to Mesari on more than...
