I stopped in this nice looking place to drink something. I asked for a dragon fruit shake and I specified "NO sugar". 5 waitress and just one barman. But I thought it was not a problem, because the only clients were two couples and me. It toke literally 35 minutes to have my shake. The barman was completely inexperienced. He spent two or three minutes drying the drops of water from a glass. Then he turned around and lined up the cups in rows, with incredible phlegm. Or passing a piece of kitchen paper on the top, while he was chatting and laughing with the 5 colleagues who has nothing to do, but wait. I thought he forgot he had still two orders on the to-do-list, but I was wrong: it was just his natural working rhythm. Very calmly, he set about preparing the next order: ten minutes (10!!!) for a cappuccino, and to find the right tray, to place the glass on the side he liked best ... I was bewildered. Finally I had my drink: I took a sip and I immediately felt the super sweet taste of the sugar (I can't take it for health reasons). I asked the waitress if there was sugar in my shake. She replied "No". All of them where standing behind the bar looking down. I asked again if they used sweetened milk or something like that. Again the answer was no. The third time I said "I have to know if there is sugar here... I may feel sick and need medicine". And she finally replied: "Well... Our milkshake are made with ice cream." I was totally shocked. I leave the glass full, in front of me and I immediately ask for the bill. And... They made me pay!!! I was sure they would at least offer me the drink I couldn't have, apologizing!!! In twenty years of travels never ever happen to me something like this, in a place that wants to be fancy, moreover! Incidentally: the price was double what you normally pay around here. The glass was exactly half the size. In Indonesia service is always very very very slow... But these guys... They don't know how to work. They have no idea how to manage a bar. They're completely incompetent! If I'm allergic to an ingredient, let's say peanuts, and I ask you for a dish without them, you cannot put in peanut butter!!! And even worst, you cannot deny!!! Many times, before admitting! You can send someone to the hospital! This is soooo serious... I'm a very flexible traveller, and I'm use to adapt myself to all situation, but all this story, is unacceptable. Please, go somewhere else: Ubud is plenty of nice bars and restaurants, with precessional staff. Maybe not super fast, but faster then this one for sure, and most of all, attentive, responsible, and able to know how to be polite and to take care of an upset client. Worst experience in my six month in...
Read moreWhen I visit new restaurants or cafe, I always ask for the best recommendations for food and drink. Some of the best recommendations for food here are chicken steak butter rice, tropical yellow rice and ayam suna cekuh. I suggest, if you don't really like your food to be strong with spice taste, please order chicken steak butter rice. For the drinks, es kopi susu ants and goldmine iced coffee. Just try for their signature drinks. It's all good. You can scan the barcode attached on the table to see the full menu.
I came here in the evening and it was cloudy. Please bring your mosquito repellent since there will be a lot of mosquitos when it gets dark. No wonder since it is located near paddy fields.
I give 4 star because the food portions were small. I couldn't be full with only chicken parmigiana here even it was served with french fries. I must order something with rice to fill my stomach.
And for toilet, it wasn't built in the restaurant area. You must go to the hotel named Uma Dana Ubud near it. The hotel is under one management with the restaurant, so it is okay to use its toilet even if you only visit the...
Read moreI came to this restaurant expecting a great experience based on its glowing Google reviews, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining encounters I’ve ever had.
Yes, the view is stunning, but unfortunately, that’s the only thing this place has going for it. The staff were shockingly rude and dismissive from the moment I arrived. There was no warmth, no professionalism, and certainly no hospitality.
I ended up leaving before even receiving my food, that’s how unpleasant the service was. I calmly expressed my disappointment, but the staff didn’t acknowledge it at all. No apology. No attempt to make things right. Just complete indifference.
I even paid the bill out of principle, despite walking out hungry. Still, not a single “sorry” or ounce of accountability.
It truly makes me question how this place has such high ratings. A beautiful view doesn’t make up for terrible service and disrespectful staff. If you value being treated with basic courtesy, I highly recommend you look elsewhere.
Be my guest and come pay a visit and you will understand what I am...
