I love coming here. It's in my top 3 cafes for Bali and I usually go at least once per week and will often stay for breakfast and lunch and do some work around the pool.
What I like:
The food and atmosphere are consistently great. Their pool is also beautiful. It's a great place to swim when you just want to have a break from a social day.
Their coffee, smoothie bowls, and red chicken curry are my favorite meals. Their pumpkin soup is also nice.
I appreciate their coffee loyalty program, too - you can get stamps for your coffee, and every 6th coffee is free.
Breakfast promo - if you go between 7-9 and you order breakfast, they will give you a complimentary coffee with your bfast order, which is fantastic value.
What could improve:
The only thing I would improve service wise, is you have to remind some of the staff to apply the breakfast promotion to breakfast orders. They frequently charge for coffees I was told by a shift manager is part of the bfast promotion. I feel awkward asking when It isn't applied, but I also love a good deal.
I often spend 200-400k when I go here, so it makes me feel valued when they look after me and my friends when I bring them.
Over all Mowies is one of the best cafes in Berawa IMO and I will continue to frequent it as long as I live in Bali. I'm grateful the owners have created such a...
Read moreI’ve been a longtime customer of Mowie’s, but after this experience, I will not be returning.
We ordered a strawberry matcha latte (amongst many other things), and just by looking at it, we knew it didn't look right. It was completely white, with no hint of green. My friend took a sip and said it tasted like milky water (not even watery milk). Charging 75k for this, which is more than most cafes in Bali, is wild. If you're going to charge premium prices, you would expect the drinks to actually be drinkable.
The worst part, however, was the service. When we politely tried to send it back, the waiter was incredibly rude—easily the worst service I’ve ever experienced in Bali. He told us we could return it, but we’d still be charged. Then, instead of handling the situation professionally, he insulted us, saying that “every other customer likes it” and that it’s not their fault we have bad taste. Anybody could tell just by looking at the drink that something was wrong—no green color, lots of grainy bits settling at the bottom, and nothing remotely resembling matcha.
The level of attitude and rudeness from the staff was shocking. I’d strongly recommend retraining your staff so that other customers don’t have to go through the unpleasant experience we did, which unfortunately ruined...
