Rude and unsympathetic staff, mediocre food. The only thing worth going for is the vibes and atmosphere for that IG-worthy photos and even then, its not like anything we haven’t seen before.
My friend and I were given a table under the extremely hot scorching sun (please have your leaves cover up all the glass ceiling and not have this gaping hole for the sun to shine in) and I asked the staff if we could shift to another table as it was really too unbearable to eat under the heat and bright sun.
The first staff said coldly that they can’t shift us once we have ordered food and drinks and if I have any issues to talk to her colleague. Lol wtheck. So I talked to her colleague who said they can’t shift us either because there are many others on the waiting list. But mind you, we were there for quite awhile and there were still SO many empty tables under the shade and no new incoming customers.
Shouldn’t a F&B business first priority be service and to ensure customers’ comfort? We were sweating and dying under the sweltering heat and I don’t think it was an unreasonable request to move to another table but we were denied twice, with absolutely NO sympathy as to what we are experiencing.
In the end I saw one table under the shade and told my friend let’s just move there ourselves since the staff were so unwilling to help us.
This was really a terrible experience I have never had before anywhere else and I expected better from Bali. It’s as if they think they are so popular they don’t need to care what their customers think. We asked to speak to the manager and the same first staff said “The manager isn’t ready”. What kind of reply is that lmao.
Food was horrible too, cold and tasteless. Judge for yourselves from the photos how bright the sun is. Never going back again...
Read morePenny Lane is one of the most beautiful restaurants we visited in Bali. From the moment you step inside, the design makes a statement. The architecture is grand yet warm, with intricate details and open spaces that make you want to pause and take it all in before you even sit down. It feels like every corner has been thoughtfully put together to create an atmosphere that is equal parts artistic and welcoming. It is the kind of place that feels special whether you are stopping in for a casual lunch or settling in for a longer evening meal.
The food more than matched the setting. The fresh coconut we ordered was incredible, filled with refreshing water and plenty of soft, sweet coconut meat that made it stand out from any we had elsewhere. The Mediterranean platter was also excellent, especially the grilled vegetables, which were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Everything we tried tasted fresh and carefully prepared, the kind of meal that feels nourishing and indulgent at the same time. The staff were warm and attentive, making sure we were well looked after without ever rushing us, which only added to how much we enjoyed our time there.
What made Penny Lane so memorable was how well everything worked together. The food was delicious, the drinks were refreshing, and the atmosphere was stunning. It is a place that feels designed to impress, but it also delivers on quality and comfort, which is not always the case with restaurants that look this good. It left such a lasting impression on us and is a spot we would recommend to anyone visiting Canggu, not just for the food but for the experience of being in such a...
Read morePenny Lane is an awesome spot to grab a bite to eat. The decor and atmosphere are fun and quirky, adding to the overall charm of the place. However, it's worth noting that it does get quite busy, so there may be a wait for a table. The good news is that the wait is usually not too long, and you can grab a drink at the bar while you wait. Additionally, they provide seating for waiting guests, which is a thoughtful touch.
The menu at Penny Lane offers a great selection of dishes, catering to various dietary preferences. They have a few vegetarian and vegan options, which is a plus for those with dietary restrictions. It's always nice to have choices that accommodate different preferences.
During my visit, I ordered the burrata gnocchi, and my friend ordered the Elvis parsley burger. The food was delicious and well-prepared. However, the only downside was that our dishes didn't come out together. There was a gap of about 20 minutes between the arrival of each dish, which was a little disappointing. I understand that different sections in the kitchen can get busier than others, but it would have been nicer if the timing was a bit better coordinated.
Despite the slight timing issue, I still had a great dining experience at Penny Lane. The enticing atmosphere, great menu selection, and tasty food make it a place worth visiting. Just be prepared for a potential wait and keep in mind that dishes may not always...
