Been eating here since 2006 I moved to Bali first time, long time before those floggers (food-bloggers) tried to get famous by posting bout this Balinese warung. But they've been serving their customers since 1963.
One of legend warungs in Ubud.
They open from 8 am to 5 pm.
What I love is the kind service from Ibu and family. Nice seating behind their warung which is inside their house.
We always order "Nasi Campur" or plain rice served with Balinese mixed dishes on inke or balinese traditional handwoven plate. If you don't request for spesific chicken meat only or pork meat only, they will serve you this standard Nasi Campur mixed of chicken and pork meats. If you don't eat pork or vice versa, you can request spesific meat only. If you are vegetarians you can request rice with their Urab or steamed mix veggies.
Their house sambal matah is not too spicy (I cant eat spicy Indonesian foods btw) and use kefir lime so it tastes a bit sour and fresh. If you don't like spicy, ask them to give no Sambal. The sambal matah isn't like common sambal matah.
We pay 30k for one portion of Nasi Campur (chicken and pork meats) and 1 bottle mineral water. No additional crackers etc.
Remember that You pay what you eat. If you aren't sure with the price, it's fine to ask first how much one portion. It's better to ask than...
Read moreThe first restaurant we tried once we arrived in Ubud and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious yet very affordable. They only have 3 things on their menu: mixed pork rice, mixed chicken rice, and mixed "vegetarian" rice; perfect for indecisive people like us. Each chicken/pork variety in each dish was so flavorful yet complemented each other somehow. We also tried the es jamur; an iced mushroom tea that's similar to kombucha. It became my partner's favorite and ordered it every time we ate there. The shop may not look like much from the outside but they have these beautiful and peaceful dining area in the...
Read moreThis place is truly amazing. We ran away from a nearby touristy warung to Makan Teges despite that our tour guide took us to the former (probably for commissions). We ended up buying 5 nasi campur for 153K, which is the price of 1 dish in that touristy and overpriced warung. Our tour guide was still an honest person, he told us that his mom used to take him here when he was a kid, and this is the best nasi campur in Ubud according to the locals. Indeed, it was very local, bahasa is essential here in order to get your dish right! No vegetarian dishes available, but you can ask them not...
