I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Hiro, located in the vibrant Paris Van Java, and it was a five-star experience that far exceeded my expectations. I rarely leave negative reviews unless the experience is truly disappointing — and unfortunately, this visit was one of them.
To be fair, the food at Sushi Hiro has never been an issue — the taste and quality are consistently good. However, the serving time needs serious improvement.
We ordered two dishes at 2:20 PM, and they were only served at 3:20 PM, despite being told the usual waiting time was 20–30 minutes. I asked the staff about the delay more than six times, but received no clear answer or explanation.
What made the experience worse was the lack of any apology or recovery effort, even after it was clear that we were disappointed with the long wait.
There are many other Japanese restaurants that offer both great food and well-managed service. Choosing good taste shouldn’t mean having to waste an hour just waiting for your food.
This place might be suitable for those with iron patience or who come with full stomachs. But if you’re dining with hungry kids, and it takes an hour just for a kids’ meal to come out, you’re better off going...

Menunya sangat variatif, banyak banget mulai dari sushi (obviously), sashimi, Japanese grilled food, Japanese fried food, ramen, aneka sup, sampai pizza 🤣 dessert juga ada. Waktu itu pesan Signature Chicken Ramen dan Hiro Delux Sashimi.
Signature Chicken Ramen-nya enak banget. Ramen-nya kemungkinan sejenis torikotsu ya, ramen dengan kuah kaldu ayam yang warnanya putih. Enak dan kaldu ayamnya sangat terasa. Noodles-nya chewy, not soggy at all, chashu ayamnya enak, fatty, with good texture, very decent, disajikan dengan topping lain berupa rumput laut dan soft boiled egg (half) yang so creamy dan sprinkle of sesame seeds. Ada condiment berupa minced garlic dan hard ground chilies.
Hiro Delux Sashimi-nya cantik banget, kudos to the artist behind it. Kebiasaan buruk saya adalah ke tempat makan sushi dan gak pesan sushi-nya sama sekali, saya akui itu. Maklum, saya jauh lebih suka sashimi. Sashimi di sini cantiknya kebangetan, presentasinya suka saya. Pas sampai ke meja ada wow factor yang sangat kental. Sampai ada beberapa patron juga yang nengok ke meja saya, mungkin karena takjub, plus aneh juga kenapa saya makan sashimi lumayan banyak sendirian 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Hiro Delux Sashimi isinya sake (salmon) 2 slices, salmon belly 2 slices, maguro (tuna) 2 slices, tamago 4 slices, ikura (telur ikan salmon) satu sendok, dan favorit saya: kanpachi (Seriola dumerili) atau greater amberjack, yang secara takson berada pada genus yang sama dengan hamachi (Seriola quinqueradiata) atau Japanese amberjack atau yellowtail. Bedanya kanpachi ukurannya lebih besar, less fatty, dan lebih terasa umami dibanding hamachi. Salmon karena emang rasanya biasa aja menurut saya, but still good and fresh, salmon belly teksturnya lebih springy and sinewy, tapi gak se-chewy otoro. Maguro-nya enak, kemugkinan bagian punggung, saya sengaja sisain kanpachi terakhir setelah cleansing my palate. So, kanpachi-nya sedap, masih segar, lebih lean dibanding hamachi, tapi rasa umaminya keluar pelan-pelan di setiap gigitan, the more you chew the better. Setelah puas dengan ikan-ikannya, terakhir saya sesap ikura-nya, rasanya meledak di mulut. So pleasant.
Definitely worth it, meskipun assorted sashimi-nya kecakepan. Kalau dibilang itu dekorasi dan gak bisa dimakan kayanya saya percaya...
