Bhinneka Indonesian Resto & Cafe — Restaurant in Batam City

We visited on 16 March 2025.

Food was good, we enjoyed the nasi bakul and the sambal prawns. The fried chicken (breast part) was too tough to swallow and we felt thirsty after the meal. Overall the taste was great.

However, we encountered the worst service ever.

We reached at 4:40pm, were told the whole restaurant was fully booked for iftar at 5pm, both indoor and outdoor, no table for us (2 adults and 2 kids). We tried asking if we could eat fast and leave at 5:30 but was not allowed. We were disappointed and walked up the street to look for other food but couldn’t find something that we like. We called your restaurant at 4:52pm and decided to take away food.

We stood there to wait for the food and my kid was crying, hot and tired. 5:30pm the restaurant still empty despite we were told the guests will reach at 5pm. At this moment, 2 guys walked in and they were offered an outdoor table, they sat down and started ordering. I was shocked because we were told the whole restaurant was fully booked, and we weren’t even offered a place to sit. I went in and questioned the cashier and the staff, the manager surely not around, I was told it was a miscommunication at their end. Making my family walked up and down looking for other food, and stood and waited for the take away food, my kids and I have to squat outside with our tired legs, spent 45 mins of our lives for nothing.

The unfair treatment rendered to us was not acceptable, no proper explanation, no proper apology. Cashier said sorry, miscommunication , and continue to ignore us. With all these happening, we were not offered any water or a table to sit down, no one keen to salvage the situation. I have to demand the outdoor table and have our food served instead of take away. No baby chair was given to my 2 year old kid. The flies were flying everywhere and no one took any step to get rid of them. Worst service ever.

Their menu is extensive. Well over a hundred food items, not counting dessert and drinks. Don’t know how the chef does it all and every dish is plated as if it was master chef! They better be paying you well.

Food is good. 5/5. They do have non spicy items on the menu. Ask for recommendations if this is you. Otherwise their spicy items - très épicé 🔥🔥🧯

I went during Ramadan and there were many large family groups taking up several tables of 10+ people so it was a very busy night. Air conditioning wasn’t optimal. Could have turned it on stronger on busy nights. And the wait staff were too busy to be super helpful. Perhaps you need more staff on busy nights?

I ordered from the “chef recommended” list and was not disappointed. But I did over order. 4 dishes would be perfect for a couple with big appetites. Less if you were going to order drinks and dessert.

They have a barista bar and a large cake and pastries display. I didn’t try the coffee or cakes though..

They packed my untouched plate in a nice paper box. But...

Arrived at 4pm, they say they are not accepting new orders. But after some discussion, they let us in as the last customer of the day. ( I regretted it so much, I should have walked away as told!)

The restaurant is infested with mosquitoes and large flies. I got bitten so bady. (See pictures)

There is literally no Aircon, it was not working. The whole restaurant was so stuffy.

They missed out on my Kang Kong order. Due to frustrations (bitten by mosquitoes), I told them it's ok since they are packing up for the day.

The taste of the food was so disappointing, and they served our fruit juice using a small metal cup, maybe just a 200ml cup? U can't taste the watermelon apple juice, it's full of ice and diluted. Yucks.

The price is so expensive and the reviews are a scam. I should not have trusted the Google reviews.

Overall, I would not recommend and will not patronize again. A terribly itchy dining experience with a high price tag. Please...
