Restoran Pondok Indah — Restaurant in City of Medan

i never leave dismal reviews but unfortunately my experience here warrants such a review. heard of good things from the locals but sadly they did not meet expectations.

food was sub par, sadly they taste too close to each other for the fried stuff. ordered the tepung sotong, bakwan jagung and tempe goreng. they taste very similar to each other like they use the same oil and batter, the tepung sotong was the first to arrive hence it was nice, but the tempe goreng has no tempe taste sadly, just taste like batter and oil. the bakwan jagung seems light and airy, but the taste is meh

the ikan bakar seems double fired, they cooked it once and reheat it again when we order, hence it was quite dry and non-succulent.

the ayam goreng is also double fried, it was very dry like leather, the hot oil also made the skin super tough to chew and the meat was hard like leather, and sadly without exaggeration, the chicken i ordered was kind of inedible.

the avocado juice (jus alpukat) was sour, like the avocado taste spoilt, i had a couple of sips and promptly stopped drinking afterwards.

the pondok indah soup in coconut was interesting, probably one of the more interesting things on the menu but taste was soso, overly sweet for soup (possibly from the use of coconut water for soup, hence its an inherent property)

the saving grace was the service, it was prompt and servers were polite

the shop however was kinda stuffy, even with the aircon it was very warm as not all of the air conditioning units are on.

sad to say, i definitely wont be back here for my next...

Order 7 dishes for 8 adult Very small portion with very high price. 1 plate of veggie was the same of a woman hand palm. 4 piece of a super skinny chicken priced 189.000. The chicken even didnt taste good. The chicken was hard and lack of flavour.

The bill come out 1.400.000 but for a woman with small appetite even dont feel full. The waitress were slow and busy helping others taking photo while we call several times to take our order.

Its totally okay for up price during chinese new year, but the portion was too unreasonable...

Ordered sop pondok indah, gulai ikan, and kangkung. Gulai ikan is tasty, sop pondok indah is a bit sweet. The place is very nice for phototaking and instragramable. Not much crowd and good place for small meeting or office gathering.

Staff service is good even though they have few new staff that still need to familiarize the menu.
